Special Protocols for URC-7556

I have a URC-7556 remote (Signature 10751075, HCS08 Processor) and would like this program with some Special Protocols, such as
DeviceMultiplexer and LKP / DKP.

Unfortunately, I can not find for this remote any device upgrade codes and extenders are not available. Remote Master and Special Protocols provide no support for this Protocols.

My Question, is it even possible or do I see that's wrong.

Is this the right place to post? Please correct it if I am wrong.

many thanks for any support

Kirk

Welcome to the forum!
Search for RC-7556 showed up few threads, such as
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... ht=urc7556
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... ht=urc7556
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... ht=urc7556

If 7555 is indeed similar to 7556, then this RDF
10751075 (URC-7555 OFA5).rdf
supports
[SpecialProtocols]
Multiplex=01FE
DSM=01FC
Pause=01FB
What equipment do you need upgrades for? If you list troubles someone might help you find things.
There are few upgrades in the file section. Go there and then in the File search button type 7556. You will see few items listed.

I bet that if underquark isn't yet burried under the volcano ash he'll help you out.

hanks for the reply Liz

I have a few days before the file section and the board searched but nothing useful found.
The only thing that I have found are three topics with Device Multiplexer Protocols for HCS08 Processor but not for a URC-7556/7555 Remote

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10248
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... 7056#p57056
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... 87&start=0

all 01FE Protocols in these Topics do not work with my URC-7556.

For the 01F9 LKP/DKP Protocol I have nothing found.

My system consists of a Sony TV, a Yamaha AV Receiver, a Pansonic VCR, a DIK DVD Player, a Dreambox 7000 and a homebuilt Power Switch with RC5 code. All upgrades for these devices are working properly.
The URC-7556 can operate with only 5 devices. I would also with
LKP / DKP Macros the whole system Power on and off.

All of these functions, I had installed earlier in a Dreambox URC-39730 B02-00 Remote, but which is unfortunately damaged from my dog.

The only generic special protocol that I know of is the Pause protocol which can be downloaded from RM or KM. All the other special protocols: MultiPlex, DSM, ToadTog, and LKP/DKP, have to be customized for each remote. Extender writers usually add these when they develop an exteneder. Multiplexing can usually be used with / without the extender once it is developed, but DSM, ToadTog and LKP/DKP would be different for an extender than they are for an unextended remotes. You very rarely see stand alone DSM, ToadTog and LKP, because when an extender writer spends hours upon hours testing there 'creation' they don't want them passed by in favor of a half-measure like the standalones special protocols, and on top of that it is usually more difficult or even impossible to implement these on an unextended remote, depending on how the remote natively processes macros.

With a signature like 10751075, it would be a JP1.2 remote (my specialty), but I haven't come across this remote. Is it a U.S. remote or european?

it is a JP1.2 European Remote similar or equal to a URC-7555 but which apparently also European.

I think I've been reading about that recently. I think the RDF was just recently developed. In order for an extender to be developed you really need to own the remote.

I created a protocol upgrade similar to the one used for the URC-39940. Try it and let me know if it works.

Save your current .IR file.
You need to add the Protocol Upgrade to the Protocol tab and the device upgrade to the device tab in IR.exe.

Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FA (HCS08) Patch for Setup Table for URC-7555/URC-7556/URC-1660 10751075
20 04 00 00 01 00 45 1C 00 35 50 96 02 02 CD FE
7A AD 07 03 01 8D CD 04 8D CD 8A 88 3F 54 F6 B7
55 AF 01 35 50 01 60 0C B6 55 BB 51 B7 51 B6 54
B9 50 B7 50 45 02 6E 35 52 CD FE B0 CD FE 2A CC
FD EF
End

Upgrade Code 0 = 0C 53 (TV/1107) Patch Setup Table. Use CH+=RAM, CH-=Original-EEPROM
FA 00 21 01 00
End

Assign TV device button to TV/1107. Upload to remote. Disconnect cable and press CH+ to set the remote to load the setup table from RAM. You can delete the 01FA protocol and the TV/1107 upgrade as it is not needed anymore. After that, the following unextended device multiplexor should now work.

Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FE (HCS08) UnExtended Device Multiplexor for patched URC-7555/URC-7556/URC-1660
20 04 00 00 02 00 8C BE D2 58 B6 60 E7 BF B6 61
E7 C0 CD 1C 66 81
End

Binky, thank you for your reply

I have the procedure performed as described, but it does not work.
Strangely, the TV device button changes from TV/1107 after Upload to Remote to TV/0556. I also miss for the Upgrade Protocol 01FE a Device Upgrade in the Device tab of IR. Or i see that wrong?

Did you press TV button and then CH- after uploading? I don't know why the TV setup code is reverting to TV/0556 after upload. After upload, can you do a download and see if it changes. You may also want to do a Magic-990 to blink back the setup code on the TV button to confirm the number.

I may have to see your .IR file to see if there are any problems with it. This remote validates setup codes and if a setup code is not found, it'll reset the setup codes to the default.

I didn't include a device upgrade that uses 01FE because I don't know what setup codes you want to use.

I've uploaded two IR files here: https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=8315. The 2nd file is the download from the remote after delete the 01FA Protocol and the TV:1107 Device. Apparently is the Patch for Setup Table not written in the RAM (I have pressed TV Button and Ch- after upload in the remote)

I'm assuming the patch was successful.
After deleting the TV/1107 device upgrade, the remote may have reset this to the default value since TV/1107 was not available anymore. You should probably change this to TV/0880.

Anyway, everything looks ok but I'm not sure if the empty device upgrade of TV/1101 FE 00 01 is acceptable for this remote. I've created an upgrade that has 2 keys mapped:
Upgrade Code 0 = 0C 31 (TV/1103) Uses Device Multiplexor Protocol 01FE. CH+=TV/0880 CH-=TV/0339
FE 00 21 03 70 01 53
End

You can now assign a TV mode keymove on button Shift-Red to TV/1103 CH+ to switch to TV/0880. Assign Shift-Blue to TV/1103 CH- to switch to TV/0339.

Also, when creating keymoves on the digit keys(SHIFT-1), you have to press shift twice(SHIFT-SHIFT-1) to execute that keymove.

It does not work. I have the IR file uploaded here:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=8325
maybe you can look again if I did everything right.

Thanks

Of course, I'm assuming the patch was applied correctly.

Your keymoves don't look right as they don't reference the CH+/CH- keys assigned in TV/1103 device upgrade.

Can you edit the 10751075 RDF and remove the Multiplex=01FE entry under the [SpecialProtocols]? There is an icon under IR8 near the KM icon that allows you to open the RDF file. This will stop the Multiplex keymove entry from moving over to the Special Protocols Tab.

Then reload your .IR file and change the Keymoves on Shift-Red and Shift-Blue from Hex cmd to Key and then choose the CH+ and CH- keys.
