Help with Atlas OCAP 5 - 1056B01 & Samsung Blu-ray BD-P1

This is my first attempt at JP1 programming.
So I got my handy JP1.3 USB cable. Got the drivers installed. Used the TIAO driver b/c the Delcom was not recognized by XP.

jp1xtest.exe successfully finds the remote....
C:\jp1\Tests>jp1xtest
jp1xtest version 0.00
**** FOUND A JP1.x COMPATIBLE REMOTE ON COM8! ****
Signature is 30333033
Memory address is $0600
Memory size is $1400 (5120)

In IR.EXE, I select Atlas OCAP URC-1056 JP1.3(Black)_(Silver), but the blue title bar switches to Atlas OCAP PVR 3033 JP1.3 (Black)/Atlas OCAP (Silver) not sure why this happens.

Interface check reports back: The remote interface check succeeded!

Download from remote works fine. DVD code is set to 0503.

Then I go to keymap-master-v9.18
Load the file for Samsung_BDP1500.txt, but that flips the remote to URC-9910/8910/UEI HTPro, so I select "Atlas OCAP URS-1055/1056

The Setup code flips to 1199 ( I was told by UEI that the code for the BD-P1600 is 0199), but I continue to cut and paste the new device in to IR.EXE

So the General Tab says #3 DVD, VCR, 1199

So I upload everything looks good, but remote doesn't work player, when I download it back, DVD is reset back to 0503.

Please help!

You're very close. You just missed one step. You also need to copy/paste the Upgrade Protocol from KM to protocols in IR and you'll be good to go. The signature and title bar info are all correct.

So long as the setup code in KM and IR match, it doesn't really matter what the code is unless you're using a built-in code. So don't worry about what UEI said. This upgrade has nothing to do with that code or any other built-in code. We're adding our own.

The fact that the 1199 doesn't stick is puzzling. One difference I see is that if I paste in the upgrade, my device type is DVD instead of VCR. VCR should work too, but I'm wondering why yours is doing that. When you paste it in, does it prompt you to assign it to a device and do you pick the DVD button?

If pasting in the protocol doesn't fix it, post your KM and IR files for us to look at.

That's fine - it's the info from the RDF. You can make it display more or less info (maybe less confusing or intimidating) by selecting or DE-selecting "Tools>Options>Extended Titles"

upload your modified KM and IR files to the diagnosis area.

Upload the files I indicated above, and provide a link to all of the files you uploaded as well as the KM file you started from and someone will take a look.

OK, there are two things going on, one of which I understand and is likely the cause of your problem.

Your upgrade file calls for not only a DEVICE upgrade, but also a PROTOCOL upgrade, yet you have not added that protocol upgrade to your IR file.

Add that protocol upgrade as well, and your BD player will sing like a canary using your OCAP remote.

(by the way, don't upload entire KeymapMaster spreadsheets. They are FAR too large. Just save the upgrade under a new name, and then it is merely a small text file.)

However, your IR file has something additionally very strange going on. Take a look at the Macros Tab. You have two incredibly long macros assigned to "SOURCE" and "Shift-Key76". I'm not sure what they are SUPPOSED to do, but they exceed ANY allowable macro length by DOZENS of steps.

I have five Atlas OCAP remotes, and although they each had the same native upgrades (they're all for Scientific Atlanta and Motorola cable boxes) and each had a few unique Cable-provider-specific three or four-step macros on the F1, ON DEMAND, and F2 buttons as well as a Power "All ON/OFF" macro as your does, NONE of them had those bizarre hundred+ step macros that your has. Those last two macros have got to go. Not only do they do nothing, but they consume ALL of your Keymove/Macro memory.

Delete those two macros, add the protocol upgrade as discussed above, and (from your other thread) add TV Input keymoves to all other device modes and you'll be where you want to be (at this poinht, at least).

How do I upgrade the Protocol?

I go to the Protocol Tab, Click the Add Button, Paste the upgrade code:

Upgrade Code2 0 = 24 AF (DVD/1199) Samsung BDP1500 (KM v9.18)
01 B5 00 FE CE FC 02 06 C1 04 00 E0 D0 40 C0 20
A0 60 E0 10 90 50 00 00 A4 88 B0 00 28 4C 48 A8
C8 B8 18 98 D8 58 38 78 E8 30 68 04 E4 94 14

and try to hit OK, but it asks for a Protocol ID.

Where do I get the Protocol ID?

or do I post this one?

Upgrade Code2 0 = 20 00 (DVD/0000) keymap-master Device Upgrade (KM v9.18)
01 B5 00 01 04 00 E0
End

My problem may be that I pasted the device upgrade + protocol upgrade in to the Device upgrade window:

I pasted:

Upgrade Code2 0 = 24 AF (DVD/1199) Samsung BDP1500 (KM v9.18)
01 B5 00 FE CE FC 02 06 C1 04 00 E0 D0 40 C0 20
A0 60 E0 10 90 50 00 00 A4 88 B0 00 28 4C 48 A8
C8 B8 18 98 D8 58 38 78 E8 30 68 04 E4 94 14
KeyMoves
34 F0 04 24 AF 54 70«zoom»¦35 F0 04 24 AF 64 F1
«subtitle» ¦36 F0 04 24 AF CC 2C«bonus view»¦8E
F0 04 24 AF 80 0E«open/close»
End

All in to the Device upgrade window.

OK, here's the step-by-step:

DEVICE UPGRADE -

In KM, click on the "clipboard" button in field F:11-12
This puts the DEVICE UPGRADE (and Keymoves) on your clipboard.

In IR, open the DEVICES Tab;
Click on "ADD";
In the main field of the pop-up, right-click and paste.

This will populate all of the required fields for the Device upgrade and Keymoves.

Click "OK"

PROTOCOL UPGRADE -

In KM click on the "clipboard" button in field F:27-28;
This puts the PROTOCOL upgrade on your clipboard.

In IR go to the PROTOCOLS Tab and do the same as you just did above in the DEVICES tab.

No, that was fine. You didn't paste the PROTOCOL upgrade ANYWHERE.

It Worked!

Upgrading the Protocol, and deleting the weird Macros worked!

I can now control my Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-ray!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped!

This case is SOLVED :-)
