Apogee Grands speakers

I have a set of speakers called Apogee Grands, and they come with a remote control made by UEI. The remote died last week, and I sent over a piece of the manual to UEI to get a new remote. They said they looked like JP1 codes, and referred me to this website. Here is the part of the manual (pdf 2.7mb).

I purchased a URC 10820 and the appropriate JP1.2 cable. I can not seem to take the codes from the manual and make them work with the new remote.

Thanks,
Eddie

Hey Eddie, I'm so glad to see you have a cable. There really isn't enough information on that page to come up with an upgrade because it doesn't tell us what protocol it uses, only the Hex used to send it. On a really long shot, I found that VOL+,VOL-, MUTE combo on only one device.

It only appears in Home/Audio Device 0154.

So I'm going to see if I can dig up enough information to make you an upgrade.

Thanks for the help. Were the codes under the Code column the hex codes?

Thanks again,
Eddie

The origional remote control from Apogee is a Universal Electronics Inc HP-PCB-01-07

It looks somewhat like the OFA 2, 4, and 5 in the picture section.

Thanks again.

Eddie,

This is purely guess work, but here is an upgrade file.
Apogee Grand Speakers

Please let me know if it works.

If you need help using an upgrade, ask questions.

Hmm, it looks like the last 2 bytes of the document are 2 byte discrete codes that could give more control than the original remote.

That's beyond me, but if you are willing to test we might find some volunteers to give me a hand.

I programmed the remote this morning, and the speakers came back to life!

Thanks for all your help.

There are more settings available on the RS-232 port on the speakers, but there is no need for them.

Thanks again, Eddie.
