RMIR 1.92b problems

I know that recent focus has been on getting RM to cooperate with the new RDF spec, but in the effort to convert from IR to RMIR, every once in a while I try to see if RMIR is ready for full-time operation. I have to say not yet, but I'm hopefuly. I'd love to see a single program cover both sides of the issue: building upgrades and communication with the remote.
Recently, every time I try to import my IR file into RMIR, I have unfortunately been unable to use RMIR for one reason or another. I have NOT been particulary diligent about documenting what goes wrong and feeding that back, because I have IR and don't NEED RMIR. Regardless, I'll try to be more conscientious about annotating and passing my observations regarding RMIR on.
To the point:
When I open my
OCAP Extender v 2.05 upgrade with RMIR, the Keymove tab is sometimes inaccessible, and the Special Funciotns Tab is always inoperative. Sometimes the Tab will open, sometimes not, but I can NEVER add or modify a SP function. Also, in IR, the two multiplex functions select devices CBL:1085 and CBL:0059, respectively, yet in RMIR they are "TV" devices instead of "CBL", and RMIR will not accept any change to that setting.
Also, when trying to create e NEW SP function, NO function aside from "MULTIPLEX" is available in the drop-down.
I assume that these issues are likely due to unintended consequences of the new RDF4 spec that this extender RDF has adopted, but am certainly not smart enough to figure out a fix.

Please do report the problems you run into. As I've said before, I can't guarantee how quickly I'll fix reported problems, but I can guarantee that unreported problems won't get fixed.
RDFv4 support in RMIR is spotty. I've implemented some features, and added only parsing support for others. I haven't looked at your IR file, but it's quite likely that the RDFv4 feature are what's causing your problems.
I'll look into it when I have some time.

The V2.05 of the Atlas/OCAP extender RDF did not have any of the RDF4 stuff in it. I've bumped the version number to 2.10 for the new release that will have the RDF4 entries.
(and yes, I have not yet released 2.10, although the feedback from the testers has said that it's ready to go, but I was in China last week on a biz trip and have had no time to get back at this - hopefully this weekend I'll have a full-suite of the JP1.3 extenders with IR 8 support in them) If you want to get a pre-release for testing with RM and RMIR PM me with your direct email and I'll send them to you)

version 4 or not, the symptoms I describe exist and need to be troubleshot and resolved, eventually. I state the obvious NOT to push Greg for a quicker resolution, but to try to point out that even if the rdf version is immaterial to the symptom, the symptom should not be dismissed simply because a new rdf will be out soon.

Cap
that was just a reminder to Greg that your issue has nothing to do with RDF4. Of course, when the new version comes out with RDF4 support, then RM and RMIR will have to deal with it. (I've tested with RM and have seen no issues so far)

Capn, I think
this trial version will work better for you.

Capn, have you tried this out? Does it work better for you?

I'm sorry. Somewhat counterintuitively, I have less time on weekends (more driving around of kids) than on weekdays. Will give it a try (although initial efforts looked encouraging.

It's not much better.
When I open that file in RMIR, it seems to be OK for a while, but after about three of four Tab changes, I can no longer access the Special Protocol functions Tab. It just won't open.

After testing a little bit longer, with the same IR/RMIR file, basically, I can access the SP tab once, and I can create a new SP function. HOWEVER, the newly-created function does not appear on the page after it is created, and I cannot activate ANY activity on that page thereafter. If I SAVE the RMIR file, and re-open it, the SP function I had created DOES appear on the SP tab, and I can again create ONE new SP function, although it won't show up until after I close and re-open RMIR again.
So closing and re-opening RMIR each time I add a SP function is a bit tedious and would be appreciated if it could be fixed.
I have been following the other thread claiming that RMIR does not support extenders - perhaps this is related to that seeming more general problem?

The other thread claims the problem is with extenders, but that's not accurate. The problem is with Special Protocol functions, most likely your problem is related.

I can't figure out what he's talking about in that thread, with all of the discussion about getting his "guide" back online, and Wine, and "unsuccessfully getting it to work..." without describing what his specific problems are.
I would hope that I describe with a little bit more specificity what issues or problems I perceive.

Yes. In most case all I need to figure out what's going wrong is:
- A .ir file
- The rmaster.err log file
Sometimes I'll need the RDF file if it isn't part of the standard zip file, and even more rarely detailed instructions on how to reproduce the problem.

Here are my applicable files.
It works no better with the new version of RM, Greg.
Specifically, I open the IR file in RMIR.
I can navigate the tabs and add/remove keymoves, macros, devices, protocols, whatnot. I can navigate to and from the SP tab as well, but only to VIEW the SP functions.
As soon as I try to create or modify a SP function, Problems begin. The newly-created function does not appear on the list.
Perhaps a clue, if the new function is an LKP, when I navigate away from the SP Tab, I cannot navigate back INTO the SP tab. However, if the new function is a ToadTog, when I navigaate away, I CAN navigate back into the SP tab and then the new ToadTog function is present, and I can continue creating SP functions.
Deleting SP functions works fine.
Regardless, I can SAVE the RMIR file, and when I reopen it, the "new" SP function is there, and the program works correctly up until the point of creating a NEW SP function.
So it seems to me that something "hangs up" when one clicks "Save" for a SP function, but it actually does get saved, but does not return control back to the main program until I close and re-open the tab (for ToadTog)or the program (for LKP).
Hope this helps.
