Can someone convert the CCF file to a BIN file for the Slingbox?

That's not a CCF file, it's a PCF file and we can't convert those.

It is a lot more tedious to convert PCF files and the OP ought to do at least the tedious part.

1) Get a copy of ProntoEditNG, which is a free download from RemoteCentral.

2) Get the DecodeIr.dll plus the JP1 version of IrTool.exe from hifi-remote.

3) Open the PCF and navigate to each button and view/edit its signal in Pronto Hex. (You might need to read directions and/or look for threads in the RC forum on how to do that).

4) Copy the entire Pronto Hex string (even if it is too big for the tiny window) to the clipboard.

5) Paste it into IrTool and decode and look at the pop up decode dialog.

6) Write down the protocol name, the device number, and if there is one the subdevice number from a string that looks roughly like protocol:device.subdevice:obc
For all further signals of the same device usually protocol, device and subdevice stay the same, but if they vary you must note that.

7) In an excel sheet or in the functions sheet in the RemoteMaster program put the function name (from the name or icon of the button you navigated to) in one column and the obc in another.

8) Repeat for all buttons of that device.

9) If you made a two column xls file, post it to the diagnosis area and any expert here can copy/paste a whole column at a time into RemoteMaster.

If any of the pronto hex strings don't give reasonable decodes, post those to this thread. Also post the basic info: protocol, device and subdevice.

I think I have a similar problem (a different view though).

I am also trying to generate a .bin file for slingbox for the same decoder:

Nova PVR 3001, known and as multichoice PVR 3001.

The pronto .pcf files can be found here:

http://www.remotecentral.com/cgi-bin/fi ... ce-dvr.zip

the harmony database files can be found here:

http://myremotesetup.com/easyzapper/New ... ocSpice%2F

Type: decoder -> satellite
Brand : Nova
Model PVR-3001

Don't really know much about converting any of those to .bin

So I thought to start clean and got an IR widget myself to learn the IR codes.

Unfortunately, IR scope sometimes seems to understand the codes with some buttons (and show a nokia device with some extra codes..) but most times with the majority of the buttons it doesn't seem to work.

I checked this particular remote (Nova PVR 3001) and it is a UEI remote with a 6-pin connector(if you open the battery cover). I think it is a JP1.1 version (as 1.1 is printed next to the connector).

I wonder, with the right JP cables would I have better success to learn the codes ?

At this point I am stuck with slingbox as I can not use it for controlling my decoder.

Any help will be greatly appreciated !

Thank you in advance,

Alex.

Hi Alex.

The IRWidget uses the same library to interpret the signal, as IR does.

As mentioned in this thread, processing a PCF is a tedious process, and the experts want to get information in a ready-to-decode form.

You can either follow the steps to convert the PCF file, or you could get the rawdata files that IRwidget put out and label each key press and put it together in a convenient form for the experts to decode.

I also wonder if this Nova PVR might respond to a RC5 code since that's the only Nova SAT code that UEI has in their newest remotes.

The code is in the PK slingbox as 0879. If you have a different slingbox you could try creating a device and see if your unit responds

Protocol = RC-5
Device1 = 24
Device2 = 31
Device3 = 31

With these EFC's on the functions sheet.
num 0 173
num 1 205
num 2 109
num 3 141
num 4 045
num 5 077
num 6 237
num 7 013
num 8 172
num 9 204
Vol+ 175
Vol- 207
Mute 076
Ch+ 177
Ch- 209
Power 044
Menu 046
Guide 083
Up 111
Down 143
Left 078
Right 238
Info 080

Vicky,

thanks,

I found a few more details about the remote control and the chipset they are using (which can be found here: http://forum.dstv.com/showthread.php?t=32 )

Motorola 32k FLASH DIE, chip number: 9RC32C-1040.
o XMP1.4 multiplayer asynchronous uni-directional protocol @ 38kHz.
o TV database with limited functionality.
o AMP database with limited functionality.
o XMP-1.4 (4 player XMP).
o Legacy protocols (8) (mini SAT library).
o Battery Low indication.
o Operating Temperature Range : 0 degrees C to 50 degrees C.
o Relative Humidity Maximum : 40+3 degrees C, 95% relative humidity.

Will try what you suggested (not sure if my slingbox is of PK type).

Regards,

Alex.

Vicky,

what would be a convinient form for the experts to decode.

The IR scope outputs the data in a file format called .ict (some sort of a text format with ir beam on/off durations ...). What shall I do to convert this to a convinient format that can be used to generate a .bin file ?

Who do I have to bribe ? (preferences too please) :)

I have been given some data for the MultiChoice, but I'm not sure that it's correct. I have created an RM file that you can use to create a bin file. Give it a try.

https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=6771

I would be able to confirm if the data I was given is correct if you were to post 1 or 2 samples of the Pronto hex for this device. John described in the third post above how to get the Pronto hex.

Robman,

thanks a lot.

The model is the Multichoice PVR 3001 (so I think it is the correct one) but the rm file clearly states that it only may work with the slingbox PL blaster and there is no point to try it wih any other model. I seem to have the RV.

Tried to change the option in RemoteMaster to save the .bin file in RV format but it doesn't seem to work :(

Why ohh why :(

I didn't recall you mentioning that you have an RV box. Devices that use the XMP protocol often have problems with the built in version of the XMP protocol, so I usually need to create custom protocols to be used instead. So, when I created the upgrade for you, I used to custom protocol that I created for the PL box. Don't even bother trying it on a non-PL Slingbox as I can absolutely 100% guarantee you that it won't work. I don't have a custom RV version, so I'll need to create one. In the meantime, I'll try creating one using the built in version.

I also did the task that we were hoping that you would do, I downloaded the ProntoNG program and extracted some of the Pronto hex from the PCF file that you posted, but unfortunately it's not exactly the format I was expecting, as the data appears to be in 7-nibble chunks rather than 8.

For anyone that's interested, the following file contains the pronto hex for the ten numeric buttons:

Robman,

you are a top guy :)

Unfortunatelly, it sill doesn't work.

I don't know if I am doing something wrong. I just load the file with RemoteMaster and save the data in .bin format ( I don't think it requires any more processing...).

Iam very confused now ...

My device is the Nova PVR 3001 (exactly the same hardware with Multichoice PVR (same device, exactly the same remotes...).

If I record the timings with IRwidget, is there another way I can go and convert them to .bin ?

Thanks for the help

Try changing "OEM Dev 1" from 20 to 16 to see if that fixes it.

I am streaming DSTV Multichoice but I dont use the Multichoice decoders as I cannot add in other free to air channels or other providers services.

I am afraid, not much luck there either (somehow slingbox software does not seem to be perfectly stable as well - it is not clear to me wether it really uses the remote codes all the time - as when sometimes I revert to working codes for another decoder of mine it stops working)
