IR 7.15 & 7.11 no Special Protocols tab on desktop

Post by negeland »

I have a home built Win XP desktop and an HP Laptop, also Win XP. All of my JP1 files, including the 2 versions of IR are located on a networked hard drive on the desktop. When I open either version of IR on the desktop, the Special Protocols tab is missing. When I open the very same files on the laptop, the Special Protocols tab is present in both.

Any thoughts about possible missing files or other issues on the desktop. I have copied all dll and sys files that are in the zip file to my system32 directory on the desktop.

The presence of the special protocols tab is determined by the contents of the RDF files. If the RDF has the special protocols stuff in there, the tab should show up. Are you sure that your RDF's are right and that IR knows where they are?

The setting for IR of where the RDF files are could be wrong. If the drive letters for both computers is not the same that can also cause confusion. I remember other similar issues when I tried to run IR off of a network drive in the past.
this JP1 stuff is a sickness!

Yup. Drive letter problem, complicated by two folders for RDF files. I hooked up with the up-to-date new ones and the problem is history - at least as soon as I get over my save everything habit and delete the old folder.

Thanks!
