In the file section there is an Rotel A11 device upgrade file but I have no idea how to modify it for the A12MKII. If someone can give me some pointers that would be great.

I just compared the first 2 buttons in each hex file and they are identical, so my guess is that you can use the A11 upgrade file "as is".

As Rob said, you can start with the A11 upgrade. To add or change functions for the A12, go to the Functions tab in RM and click New, enter the Name and type the decimal version of the IR CODE in the OBC column, then assign to a button on the Buttons or Key Map tabs. For example for the A12 SOURCE PC-USB which is IR CODE D0, put 208 in the OBC.

For the BLUETOOTH/PC-USB CODES starting on page 5 of the A12 list, you'll have to switch to an NEC Combo protocol and redo the upgrade since it's a different sub device. Notice that the MAIN IR CODES list on page 1 says NEC8311, where 83 hex is the 131 device code and 11 hex is the 17 sub device code in RM. For the BLUETOOTH codes, it's 8314, which is the same 131 device but sub device 20. The combo protocol lets you enter a different sub device for each function. So put 17 in all the existing codes and 20 in the new ones on the Functions tab. The ALTERNATIVE MAIN CODES are yet another sub device but appear to be duplicates of other codes. So I'd just ignore those.

Wow, thanks guys. Will try it out when my remote arrives on Saturday. The hex codes were so long I didn't know how it correlated to the format used by RemoteMaster.

Those PDFs gave you the codes in both Pronto hex and regular hex. To decode Pronto hex, you can add a new learned signal in RMIR and paste it in, then when you save, it will show you the decoded info. The regular hex just needs to be decoded from hex to decimal, one byte at a time.
