JP1 Remotes

Hi all,

got a URC 11-1914 R00 manufactured by OFA, aka

"Panasonic Replacement Remote"

Inside its also labelled "Model:UEI029"

It has a JP1 connector, RM is looking for 2609...

Can this be used if RM file was existing? It looks quite different due to the fact that it should replace some original Panasonic devices, but it lacks a Magic/setup key.

At present RMIR cannot handle these Replacement Remotes, but the next build which is currently under development will do so.

This is an old remote, so I suspect you did not get it new. Do you have a manual for it? It will have been superseded first by URC-1914 R01 and now by URC-4914. These replacement remotes act as a remote with a fixed activity that has three groups of buttons. Each group can be set to a different setup but the available setups are selected by scrolling through a fixed list. You try each one in turn and stop when you find one that works. The remote does not have setup codes, merely these lists that you scroll through.

The forthcoming RMIR support enables you to select the setup for each button group by number, its position in the list, without scrolling, and the RMIR Devices tab shows the signals for each button in the selected setup. But I assume the available setups are only ones used by the manufacturer concerned, in your case Panasonic.

So the capabilities of these remotes are limited. The R01 versions have an additional feature that they support one uploadable device upgrade that once uploaded, can be selected to be used by all buttons, replacing the built-in activity. The URC-49xx range may have further features. I have one to experiment with but have not yet had time to investigate.

In view of the limited capability, are you still interested in RMIR support for your remote? If so, I will create an RDF for it but it will need some additional data from you. If you are still interested, let me know and I will send you a PM to explain what is required.

The manual for this remote states that if a button is not performing correctly to
Hold the Red and Blue keys till power blinks twice then hold the offending key
such as 'MENU" The remote will send a signal every 3 seconds.When the correct function is shown on the screen (in this case the MENU), let go of the key.
Since you stated that the R01 version can accept 1 upgrade
I was wondering if this feature might be usable as a means to explore unknown "OBC s
as a way to scan them. This feature might make this remote worth something, otherwise with it's limited features i would not purchase one
