OFA URC-7556 and Humax PVR9300t

Hi All,

I'm not sure how to program my URC using JP1 and I don't have the original remote to 'learn' it to control my Hummy but there is a function to enter 5 digit codes for individual buttons. Can I use that function to program the buttons, if someone can tell me the codes?

Thanks
Sponge

I believe that the URC7556 is similar to the 7555. I don't know about the Humax PVR9300t but there is an upgrade for the PVR9200t here. You can dowload (from this site for free) RemoteMaster which will allow you to read that type of file easily. Use the function codes given in it and enter them as five-digit advanced codes into your URC7556 by following the instructions in the manual. If that doesn't work then see here.

Before you can enter the 5-digit advanced codes (also known as EFCs), you need to find a setup code that uses the same protocol and device codes as the upgrade that you're trying to replicate.

In this case, the upgrade that UQ linked to uses NEC1 with device codes 0.49 I only know of one UEI setup code that matches that, which is SAT/1808, however that code isn't in any remotes that I know of.

So, bottom line, you can't set up the Humax just using advanced codes, you would need to load the upgrade.

Does the URC-7556 accept modem upgrades? If so, you could use the JP1 tools to create a WAV upgrade which you can play into the modem.

I got this response from OFA:

Thank you for your e-mail,

The codes matching the model number of your device are:

SAT code: 1808
VCR code: 1794

Unfortunately this code cannot be set up right away, as the necessary software is not in the memory of the One For All. Because technology changes so quickly we cannot always ensure that the latest One For All codes will be stored in the memory of the handset. Some codes will be created after a One For All has been released onto the market.

We offer a unique update service. This service is free of charge (for both upgrade and postage back) within the first year of purchasing your One For All, provided you still have the proof of purchase.
If your One For All has been purchased more than 1 year ago, or if you do not have the proof of purchase anymore, the upgrade service is still possible at the cost of £10.00 or €10.25 for Irish customers.

Please send your One For All (without the batteries and without the manual) to the following address:

If you are a UK resident our address is:
One For All UK Ltd.
P.O. Box 5363
Northampton
NN4 7ZF

Seen as though its free, I think I'll send it off for programming?

Ah, yes. Forgot about that. Getting confused with the Toppy (Topfield PVR, rival to Hummy in UK) which does have in-built codes in the URC7555 and 7556. Now, would I be right in assuming that OFA will simply add an upgrade, give it a setup code (1808) and assign it to a device button? If so, then would this allow the OP to change the button assignments to a more suitable arrangement - should they require it - using the advanced codes?

Absolutely.
