JP1 Remotes

Hi all, my supply of 1056B01's is running very low and i'm looking for a new remote to deploy throughout the house. my setups for the 1056B01 run (not quite the latest) extender. i use long/short keypress for changing modes/device selection on the device keys, shifting and DSMs. 5 devices is the max. looking at this charts:

and some googling around got me interested in the insignia 67100s. what does it mean that DSM without extender?
is the extender for these remotes unclemilties' common extender, https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14947 ?

any usability issues with the device keys? RMIR issues?

also, i don't see the remotes for sale on amazon or ebay, but do see them on remotecontrols.com. are they discontinued?
