My NS-RC01G-09 insignia is not detected by RMIR. I've uploaded the err file here: https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=25105 I used this pinout:

JP1.3 ---> FTDI Signal Name
Pin
1 --------------- Not connected
2 --------------- RTS (YELLOW)
3 --------------- Ground (BLACK)
4 --------------- TXD (GREEN)
5 --------------- Not Connected
6 --------------- RXD (WHITE)

This is the cable i bought and the color diagram is posted in the ebay description: https://www.ebay.com/itm/152712195878

Any help appreciated.

RMIR has an RDF for Insignia NS-RC05A-11 but I don't see one for the NS-RC01G-09, so it should not be able to download your remote. You should nevertheless get a message that "No remote found with signature starting ...". I have no suggestion as to why you don't even get that message, though. Perhaps someone familiar with the remote, or with your cable, can be of more help.

Is it genuine FTDI? Some clones don't work.
Are you using Windows? If so, run 'devmgmt.msc' and check whether there is a Port (COM&LPT) which is identified as belonging to the interface.
Then in RMIR, go to Remote|Interface|JP1x Serial, see whether it has been properly assigned -- e.g., if not, select Other and type in COMx, x is the port number. If that is working, RMIR should then find the remote without searching.
If you don't find a com port assigned, check whether VCP is running in USB section (devmgmt again). This Virtual Com Port driver is required for RMIR to connect with the remote.
I have Win 7, I cannot guarantee that Win 10 work identically.

He's getting the no remote found message, which is as expected for new remotes that have not yet had an RDF created.

I get 3 RDF'S to choose from on my NS-RC01G-09
they are
NS-RC05A-11
AOC 67100
Insignia 67100

The NS-RC05A-11 works perfectly for it

I would wait for Graham to advise on the next steps, but I'm guessing the first step should be to use the blinkback function to get the signature.

3147 matches the Insignia NS-RC05A-11, let's see what Jack gets with his Insignia NS-RC05A-09

Ps. If you want anyone to look at your Diagnosis Area file, you should post a link to it.
