Hi Chris, I was off celebrating the Thanksgiving holiday with my family. Mmm can we say turkey and derby pie. Mmmmm

May have misunderstood and #1. was to show what (I thought) you had described, but now think you may have meant InputTv should be on SAT-shift-3, to go back to Tv mode?
Chris, You seemed to understand what I was saying, You then did method 2, which I think you were saying also worked. Now I was just trying to get my head around this by asking. In using method 2, does it take 1 or 2 button presses to get the command to recognize when switching from TV to SAT. I'm trying to figure out what your remote is doing with that keymove, so I understand what it. I

(One of the PVR's (FoxSat HD) is the device 'SAT' and requires Hdmi1).
Should have made it clear that #2 was chosen as an alternative, which selects Hdmi1 with one press of the SAT button, and works in any mode.
Thought it had not worked when Hdmi1 had been keymoved to TV's-SAT button - but find it does work, in #2, when Hdmi1 is keymoved to SAT's-SAT button.
Thanks for the explanation, that explains to me that the SAT button first changes mode, then does what ever is assigned to that key. The TV's-SAT button didn't work, because when physically pressing the SAT button, the first step was to change modes, as you just confirmed by telling me that it worked in 1 press, when it was SAT-SAT button.
The titles of the device buttons and phantom buttons have a '*' symbol attached to them and are marked in red, and FF and Rew are also in red.
The * indicates that any functions assigned to these keys are going to be keymoved, because the selected upgrade device mode, doesn't map them natively. Sometimes changing a TV upgrade to a CBL upgrade gives you more native keys, and less keys that are only available via keymoves. That really depends on the remote. Old JP1 remotes had a huge difference in the keys available between the upgrade device modes, while the more modern remotes include more keys natively in all the device upgrade modes.
There is a special functions tab but after pressing New the page opens and there is a drop down box called 'type' which is empty.

If something has been entered in the first other boxes and ok, it says 'no special protocol found for type "null"'. Can anything be done with this please?
The special protocol tab, is controlled by the RDF. Typically there is only a grayed out Pause protocol in the dropdown of an unextended remote, although if the remote did device specific macros (DSM) natively, then DSM would be included in the dropdown too. A Pause protocol can usually be added with remote master or KeyMaster and then the Pause will be enabled. Otherwise the special protocols usually come bundled with an extender. While the pause protocol can usually be created for a remote without custom code, getting a remote to perform a DSM, LKP, DKP, or MultiPlex requires remote specific knowledge that is usually found/added when an extender is being developed.

Edit:
When I looked at the RDF, I did see an entry for a multiplex, so I'll bet if you search, you'll find a Multiplex upgrade for this remote somewhere.

Hi Vicky. Glad you had a good day with the family, we have turkey at Christmas, mmm as you said and both our daughter and her husband are good cooks so we are looking forward to that, but haven't heard of derby pie.

Thank you for the explanations. I sort-of grasped the bit about * but you did not mention the 82, 92, 93, 94, 95 'buttons' in the Tv device which still have assignments for the input keys (which used to be on the phantom buttons, so they seem as if they might be left-overs?) I have updated the image yet again to what seems the best so far. https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... e_id=12156

Surround sound on/offs are now fully automated. The macros manage ok for delays, being stuffed (like turkey mmm!) with harmless keys, especially with '0' which spills most time at each iteration in surround-off. In surround-on, where 'TV' repeatedly tries to change to InputTv (because key inputTv is keymoved to TV button) it accidentally helps because CEC twice (undesirably and unpredictably) switches input to Hdmi3 (for AMP) while the home theatre/receiver is cooking (turkey mmm!).

Yes I have seen DSMs before in special functions tab with Insignia 67100, where they are handy for the 8 spare buttons at the bottom of the remote, but haven't really missed that facility with 7950. I will have a look for the multiplex upgrade you suspected, which sounds interesting.

S3F80 unextended multiplexor

I found this file but it's for HCS08 processor
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=3326 device multiplexor and pause protocols for unextended URC-10820 by binky123

Also found binky's post in beginners:- https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... 4c96c36155
and I see that RCP05B has the S3F80 processor like URC7950, but don't know how to try it or even if it is feasible.
binky123 wrote:The RCRP05B 31793179 remote requires a fix so that the standard unextended multiplexor will work with it. This will stop it from re-loading the device setup codes from EEPROM on every keypress.

Load protocol and setup code into remote. Press CBL. Press CH+ to apply fix. You can remove protocol and setup code from remote.

Code: Select all

Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FA (S3F80) Patch for Setup Table for RCRP05B 31793179

F6 48 B2 C6 BE 00 80 C6 CA FF 80 8D 48 C6
End

Upgrade Code2 0 = 04 53 (TV/1107) Patch Setup Table. Use CH+=RAM, CH-=Original-EEPROM
  01 FA 00 21 01 00
End
After that, the following standard unextended multiplexor should work.

Code: Select all

Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 FE (S3F80) UnExtended Device Multiplexor for RCRP05B/URC-39931
 00 00 02 08 63 02 00 06 C0 67 F5 03 C0 83 C0 04 AF
End
Note that I don't have a RCRP05B so I haven't tested the above.

No, Multiplex is going to be remote specific, so we need to find a post where the URC 7950 is mentioned

Chris I'm not sure what you are talking about here,
I don't know what you did to move them from phantoms to others, but we were talking about the Input functions which were assigned without using keymoves, some are still on phantom buttons, you can see them in the upgrade proper.

Right Vicky, and yes I see them in your post of the upgrade proper.

(I removed the TV input keys from TV's phantom buttons and instead keymoved those TV functions directly to various other buttons. So there are now supposed only to be macros on unshifted TV Phantoms 1-4, (5 not being occupied) which are keymoved to the TV's unshifted menu, and to Tv's unshifted colour buttons green, yellow, and blue)

The problem is that the layout tab of the TV device below, #2 normal, and #3 shifted, show no commands allocated to the TV device's phantom buttons.
That made sense when I thought I had removed them from the configuration, but does not seem to do so now.

In #1 below, buttons 82, 92, 93, 94, and 95, also unaccountably still carry the 'left-over' TV input keys. Guess they correspond to the five phantom buttons and the anomaly is that the phantoms are shown as empty in #2, the unshifted layout tab.

Hi again Vicky. I decided there was definitely something wrong with the F8000 device upgrade so deleted it from the image and reconfigured a fresh one, which also seems to work fine.

It may just have inherited the problem with an upgrade for another Samsung Tv, which I had modified (or corrupted) to suit the F8000 and Insignia, and which I then posted!
At least I have also been able to clean up that published upgrade (not that it matters but it's now for Samsung UE55F8000ST and URC-7950) and added one for Panasonic DMR-EX85 DVD recorder for the remote in the original (default) mode setting.
