Bill, would USB1 vs USB2 play a role in unreliable reads?

Oh, I've been through v3.1 before. It also was dropping packets.

I keep giving up and then coming back. I can't believe it can't work!

no idea. My Mac that I use has USB 2 hardware and it works with the 3.x driver and I have not been able to make it work with the 4.x driver.

(I run a Mac running Parallels Desktop to run Windows in a Mac window. All at XP SP3)
