So you've supplied the label for one of the "mode" buttons (ie, button 4 = COOL) but what about the other 3 mode buttons?

1 =
2 =
3 =
4 = cool

Here is the answer.

1 = Auto
2 = DeHumidify
3 = Fan
4 = Cool

I guess the Samsung Air Conditioner's IR receiver is quite unintelligent, in that it may only recognize several basic commands(such as Mode) , located in a fixed or rotating portion of a long IR pattern, and up/down traverse of prededfined sequences based on one or more direction bit(s).

The IR remote may send different IR patterns on each key press just to prevent unwanted fast repeation of same key presses. Or it is a safety feature to guard from a playful child.

FYI Samsung used to license technology from major Japanese electronic companies such as NEC, Sanyo, etc.

Hope you are making big progress.

Thanks again for your time and effort.

I have created an upgrade for you to test. At this point, I haven't tried programming any relationship between the data bytes, so there are 6 bytes of variable data per button, which means the upgrade is going to be BIG.

Thanks for the upgrade.
I will send you the test result tomorrow.

In the code, I do not see Power Off.
Please have a look.

Could you make the upgrade working with RM?

You said that the POWER OFF learns didn't work, so I didn't include that button. It looks like the power off signal is too long to be learned using a remote, so your best option would be to use a CaptureIR device.

Could you tell me more about how to use CaptureIR to get Power Off signal, and what data you need?

Sorry, I can't do CaptureIR questions, I would have to refer you to John Fine for those. Bottom line, you would need to build a captureIR device first.

Did you have any luck using the upgrade that I created?

Yes, I need to build the CaptureIR device first.

Yes. All buttons , except temp up1(vol +) and temp down1(vol -) works fine.
I will test again with temp up2, 3, 4 and temp down 2, 3, 4 tomorrow.

One question. When I assigned temp up and down buttons to keys with @(such as @sleep) under KM, and copy and paste upgrade code to IR, IR complains about illegal characters in input. It does not complain when I assign those functions to keys without @. What is making such difference?

Is the KM upgrade code incompatible with RM?

The difference is that KM or RM will need to generate keymoves for those buttons, but that doesn't explain why IR is rejecting the keymove data. What verson of IR are you using? Maybe if you were to cut and paste the upgrade code here, we might spot what's going on. I just tried it myself and IR didn't object to the keymove data, here's the block of code that I generated...

Here is the screen capture of IR with your code cut and pasted(see https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=4420).

I suspect delimeters(such as <<. >>, |, etc.) are causing the problem. Since Korean Characters are based on 2 byte character codes, when it is mixed with a certain ASCII byte and/or non-printing characters we see unwanted weird results.

An Asian language processing expert may give you better explanations and solutions.

BTW is your upgrade compatible with RM?

I have uploaded CaptureIR captured signals for Power Off/On( see https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=4421).

Could you tell me the next steps to follow?

With Power Off decoded, I will make combined test with the Air Conditioner.
