So the contact insertion side is the wire side.
Thanks 3FG.
I was doing more research and I think the wire colors for the USB to 6 pin connector cable that I ordered may be different. The wires for the cable I bought are:
Red: 5v
Black: Gnd
White: RXD
Green: TXD
Yellow: RTS
Blue: CTS
I've been looking for a diagram of the 3x3 JP1.3 connector with signal names instead of color code so I can be sure I get the correct wires on the correct pins. Do you (or anyone) have a link for that handy?
Thanks much,
Raptor

Here's a thread with
more details on the various purchased USB to serial interfaces.
The JP1.3 connector in the RCRP05b, like other JP1.3 remotes, has the following pinout.
1 +3.3 (If you have a USB to serial cable that puts out 5 volts, I recommend to leave this disconnected. It isn't necessary.)
2 Reset. Connect to RTS
3 Ground. Connect to GND
4 Rx. Connect to Tx on the FTDI cable
5 Tool Mode. IMPORTANT: Don't connect anything to this pin
6 TX. Connect to Rx on the FTDI cable
Note that the terms Rx and Tx have opposite meanings when applied to the MCU in the remote versus the FTDI chip. CTS is not used with JP1.3 remotes.

Perfect! Thank you very much 3FG.
