I'm also running Win 7 64-bit. I cannot open that IR file in RMIR - nothing happens. However when I do a File>New for that RDF, APPARENTLY nothing happens, but when I sycle through the tabs, the Raw data page has data, and when I return to the General Tab, it has a display. Nothing works, however. I can't assign a setup code, although I seemingly can add a device upgrade, the Raw Data does not change, so there is definitely a problem.

I've updated Mick's file so it's not a zip anymore, which will save you a step or two when downloading it.

I couldn't open it with RMIR either on my WinXP box, so I deleted the fixed data section from the RDF and it opened just fine.

Mick, I notice that you have 2 copies of the $016C protocol loaded in your IR file, where one uses 1 variable byte of data and the other uses 2 variable bytes of data. You also have 2 upgrades loaded that use $016C. I'm wondering whether one of the upgrades requires the 1-byte version and the other requires the 2-byte version? Either way, at least one of them won't work.

Also, just FYI, if you do open this file using RMIR, it will decide to delete one of the $016C executors for you. When I did it, it deleted the 1-byte version.

I cannot remember or understand why there would would be two copies of the upgrade maybe because i might have copied an ugrade from my dreambox remote that was controlling the DM7000 and the DM500??
Also i do not follow the meaning of the 1 byte and 2 byte
What i am trying to do is get the program back into RM so i can add some extra button functions onto the remote if i have to do this manually i will just start again thats all it will be ok

Well im beat!

Ok i have been programming my Kameleon URC-9964B00 but have a problem that i cant work out.
If i try to use RMIR and upload from remote i get "No RDF mathches signature.
Correct me i am wrong but my RDF for this unit is KASAKAS0 (URC-9960 B01 One For All Kameleon)
It is in the list of my RDF's .
I have also tried deleting all the info from the remote it makes no difference.
In IR 8.03 with everthing deleted when i try to read the remote i get a message "No data found in signature" this is when i set it to auto detect .
When i set it to force>=4k it reads the remote.
My signature comes up correctly in IR as KASAKAS0
Anybody have any ideas on this one?
Cheers

You should really have posted this within your original thread, instead of making a new one. You're losing the background information because of this.

Btw, do you still have a problem of File > New > Remote Image... > URC-9960 B01 One For All Kameleon (KASAKAS0) from RMIR?

You can answer it here. If need be, one of the moderators can merge threads together. The posts will be listed on a time basis anyways. Besides, I can't even find your original thread anymore. :(

I just remember you had a problem opening a KASAKAS0 based IR file in RMIR. I reported it along with a few others that were experiencing the same issue. It turned out to be an issue with an empty section within the RDF. That's why I can vaguely recall the issue which might be applicable here. If it is then it'll probably be resolved in the next version of RMIR.

At that window, when you select "URC-9960 B01 One For All Kameleon (KASAKAS0)" does your window's title change from "RM IR" to "RM IR - URC-9960 B01 One For All Kameleon"? If the text didn't change, that was an indication that RMIR wasn't able use that particular RDF. It was one of symptoms that allowed Vicky to figure out the the empty [Fixed Data] section prevented RMIR to use that RDF. And that was why Rob suggested you delete that section in order to open your IR file within RMIR.

Which was discussed in this thread (found it, yay! :D) https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=89061 and here https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=12566
The Robman wrote:I don't recall if RMIR knows that your Kameleon has a 4k EEPROM and needs to be downloaded in a different way than 2k remotes. So, try downloading from the remote using IR, save the file, then open it using RMIR.
That is the one question from the other thread that remains to be answered. That's probably why you have to use IR to download from your remote. However, in this thread you mention "upload from remote" which is a little bit confusing since the options are "Upload to Remote" and "Download from Remote".

I found all the original posts spread among three threads, so I have combined them all here.

To find all posts by a user, click on the Profile link in one of their posts, then click on "Find all posts by ...".

We had to do a lot of work to get IR.exe to handle 4k remotes properly. I don't think we've seen any mention of whether RMIR can handle 4k remotes, so if you're finding that it doesn't work, but IR does, you should just stick with IR for now, and report the bug to the RMIR folks.
