P.Size for Samsung PN50A550 on a comcast remote

Post by Nomnom »

Hey there,

New to these forums but I've already gotten great help from 3FM on programming AUX for my Marantz receiver.

I've already programmed my Comcast remote (silver, red ok button, comcast in black on the bottom, black backside) to work with my Samsung, and it handles power and changing inputs, which is great.

I'd like to add the functionality of P.Size which is on the original Samsung remote. It stands for Picture Size. It will allow me to aspect ration of the TV depending on the material I'm watching.

I've learned how to use 994 to do keymoves, so I'm wondering if there is an EFC code I can use to map P.Size to one of the buttons myself. Thanks a bunch.

Would have helped if you told us which setup code you are using with the TV.

However, in the File Section, Upgrades, there are a lot of Samsung TVs listed. The couple that I checked use EFC 00022 (a psuedo 3 digit EFC) for Picture Size using NECx2 protocol, device 7. The Comcast remote has setup codes 10702, 10812, 11903, and 20899 which will work with EFC 00022. Are you using one of those now?

So sorry,

I actually thought of that just now. Whoops.

10812 and 11060 both worked. The TV/VCR button are able to change the input. The Menu opens the TV's Menu, Info opens Info. Interestingly enough pushing Help opens PIP, which is weird, but nice because I never had a direct button for PIP before so I may start using that. The rest of the PIP button at the bottom of the controller do nothing though. Other than that, I really just want to map the P.Size button.

11060 is NECx1 protocol, and may not provide the correct repeating action when a key is held down.

Anyway, did you try EFC 00022 with 10812?

Genius!!!

Well done. And thank you. The HD Zoom (Enter) button on the remote had no function before in TV mode, so I keymoved 00022 to it. When TV's set to 10812, 00022 does control P.Size. (I tested it out first; I did not check to see if it would work in 11060)

Nicely done 3FG.
