Lutron upgrade confusion

Post by xnappo »

Hi All,

I am having an issue with the Lutron upgrade created by Rob - I need some help understanding what is going on.

Some of this is confused by the fact that the issue is on the Xsight Touch - where RM-IR support is still under development.

Here is the situation:

The remote has a Lutron upgrade built-in - it is upgrade 597 in the Home Automation category, and references protocol 00 E7. This protocol is listed in the RDF.

In RemoteMaster the protocol config looks like this:

Code: Select all

Setup Code: 0597
Protocol: Lutron
Protocol ID: 00E7
Device 0: 136
Device 1: 189
Device 2: 130
Device 3: 190
Device 4: 0

Up	74E3	23492	035	34	1	22 01
Down	74E4	43716	114	20	1	14 01
Rapid On	74E7	25412	043	45	129	2D 81
Off	74E6	56005	162	18	0	12 00
Now - this is missing some functions I wanted, so I uploaded Rob's upgrade.

Here is what that looks likeL

Code: Select all

Setup Code: 0597
Protocol: Lutron
Protocol ID: 00E7
Device: [blank]
Fixed Data: FF88
Note that since I knew that his upgrade has a different executor, I tried deleting the 00E7 from my RDF - expecting to see this generate a protocol upgrade. It did not, nor did the remote work when I uploaded it. I then tried changing the RDF to 00E7:2 - and this does - *sort-of* work - but it seems to be causing the remote to behave badly. With this config still no protocol upgrade is generated.

Regardless of what I do to the RDF, I seem to always be able to see the upgrades have different parameters even though the protocol ID is the same.

What am I missing here? Do I need to modify protocols.ini?

Really Chris?
There are 13 Lutron upgrades by Rob. And text instead of the files.
You are making it much to hard.
Remember to provide feedback to let us know how the problem was solved and share your upgrades.

Tip: When creating an upgrade, always include ALL functions from the oem remote, even if you never plan on assigning them to a button. Complete function lists makes an upgrade more helpful to others.

:D Here is the upgrade in question:

So - how do I force it to use our executor instead of the built in one?

Thanks,
Chris

When you want to change executors, you typically work with the OBC, but the OBC's in Rob's upgrade are kind of confusing. There appears to be something odd about how they are calculated.

Looking at what you posted in the xsight text, and the Lutron file you linked to, my guess is these are the OBC's you are working with.

184=On
018=Off
020=Down
034=Up
183=preset
045=toggle

So if you can add functions to your Xsight upgrade that would be your best bet.

Thanks a lot Vicky!

As usual you sorted me out. Very much appreciated. I know I need to devote some time to RDF maintenance - I will try to carve out some time to get going on that.
