USB IR Receiver Software for Win 7?

Post by VGLance »

Do I need something to get this Rosewill IR receiver to work or is just plugging it in all I need to do?

I found this on the internet:

http://hackaday.com/2008/10/30/how-to-u ... -receiver/

But I don't see any mention of Girder or other ir receiver software for windows in these forums.

So you built the device on that page, or do you have a pre-made dongle that came with a Rosewill remote? What is your ultimate goal (why did you build it)? If your goal is to simply control media center on your PC, then the easiest way is to simply buy an MCE IR receiver/remote. If your goal is complete control of your PC, then IP solutions are far better and easier. Girder and Lirc are good tools of course, but I've never needed that level of control from an IR device. MCE works just fine.

In any case, if you have questions about Girder, this probably isn't a good place to ask. We're mainly concerned with remotes and IR receivers and software of our own design like the IR Widget, IR Scope and IR Master.
