Opinion on Fav Keys

I'd like to know what you think about the FAV key.

Would you prefer your FAV key to be a regular macro/keymove key, or would you really miss your FAV functionality?

You might want to ask about a third choice, the version of FAV that is in some of the extenders.

I personally think the version of FAV built into the firmware is useless, while the version built into some extenders is very useful (though at the moment, my live configuration on my 2104's doesn't use it).

IIRC, the built-in version starts sending the sequence of mini macros (with fixed short pauses between) when you press FAV and continues until you press something else.

Is anyone THAT lazy about pressing buttons? Doesn't the fixed duration pause drive you nuts (stays too long a channel you can instantly decide has something you don't want; switches away from another channel an instant before you would have found out whether it is what you wnted).

The extender version of FAV is really a multi-macro: It remembers its state. Each time you press it once, it sends the next macro.

Well yes I did mean the type of FAV keys that are used with extenders. It would be extra work to preserve the FAV keys for the extendern I'm working on. In my entertainment system, I couldn't find any way to use the FAV key, and as I plug along with my extender development, I'm wondering if it would be worth the effort to preserve the FAV key as a special key, or just allow it to be a KM/Macro key.

I like using the Fav key for the PVR List function (list of
recorded programs). To me, it makes logical sense, but
I don't know about anyone else. I don't think I use the
Fav key for any other devices.

Given the option, I use it as just another key.

Personally I found the fav key to be pretty useless and would love to be able to use it as just another button. The cycles to the next macro each press sounds more likely to be useful but would still want to be able to replace it and use it as a normal macro or key.

On 8910 I use FAV key for cycling through (surfing) audio inputs on the receiver without affecting other gear.

I agree that the official FAV functionality is useless, so to me it's just another button.
