That's the route I'd pick. Then the cable could be used with a future remote that needs pin 5.

I know I did one of the resets, I think it was 981.

I did get 4 blinks after entering the code.

Fresh batteries?

Yes. They were changed when it reset.

Other than that, I think you have issues with the hardware.

Ever seen a similar issue?

I thought these things would have the keys degrade, or just stop completely.

Never imagined the unused header under the battery cover would break ...

RS 15-135 acting up

OK not sure is this is the right place, but...

My RS 15-135 is acting up. It's performed wonderfully for the last year.

I just started a new job in Aug that has me 200 miles from the family.
Got a call a few days ago, and the 15-135 quit. Turn out it reset all the codes to 11111. My son ...

Thanks, Matt. So all Radio Shack JP1.3 remotes are gone now.

That sucks.

You're right about the RCA. It's the only JP1.3 you can walk into a store and buy today in the US.

Yeah, maybe if you live in a town big enough for a Best Buy, which I don't. :x
RadioShack or Walmart. That's it locally ...

Cool.
When did Pioneer add that page?

It's been about a year since I last needed to use any of these tools, but I don't remember that existing then.

Now to figure out why IR cannot talk to my remote.
(Or why my remote reset all the codes)

Pioneer DV-310

I'm trying to find a good RM file for the Pioneer DV-310 DVDplayer.

I've been using the DVD-414 file, but it's missing a few function, specifically the DVD/USB switch (similar to the DVD/VCR switch for combos).

Any one got that function to I can add it to the DVD414 file?

Or a full KM/RM file for ...

Interesting. That's exactly what I did for my JP1 connector.

The DB25 connector has an RJ45 connect in the shell. Then I have a short piece of CAT5 cable soldered to part of an old floppy ribbon cable.

Unfortunately I don't have the right DB connector. I did find an old serial cable and another ...

Yeah I saw that. Looks like it's a lever shifter for RS232 (from the 12V levels on the PC to the 3V level on the remote).

I think I have the parts for the 3 or 4 transistor version.

The XOR gate version might be just as easy, and more reliable.

Either way, I'll probably hack my old cable and at ...

Thanks for the reply Rob.

#1 not only do I not mind, I enjoy getting my hands dirty ;)
I'm a tinkerer at heart. Almost every electronic device I've owned since age 10 has been disassembled at some point.

I'll look a bit at the J1.x cables and use that in my choice.

As to RF, I don't use it. I ...

Replacement for broken 15-2117

My 4 year old knocked it off the end table, and the LCD is broken now.

It hasn't been working the best anyway (like the signal was weak) so I'm thinking of replacing it.

How different is the 2116?

What is currently on the market? Anything that will work with my current cable?
I think it's the JP1 ...

You'll see any number of Pioneer DVD upgrades in the file secation with discrete ON and OFF commands, so that should be no problem.

Yeah I'd heard about the descrete codes long ago. especially fo the reciever to select an input insteaed of the next function (straight to DVD, VCR1, TV) . Just ...

I see your only difficulty with the two Pioneer DVD players, as they are going to use the same codes, and I am unfamiliar with any "unit code" or "address" selection that you can make to differentiate between the two. Have you not had any problems with the remote from one operating the other when ...

The Samsung TV is the only one that might not be easy to guess the right upgrade for from just the brand and type. But if I understand correctly you still have some learned signals for that. With the cable you could decode those and they will make it easy to guess missing functions.

The TV is an ...

RS 2117 remote

So, I'm new to this, so some background.

Bought a RS 2117 on clearance since it was cheap and a learning remote. Previously none of my programmable remotes could be programmed to handle everything.

that includes:
RCA TV
Dish Network PVR (501)
Pioneer DVD player (DV-270)
Samsung DVD/VCR combo (DVD ...
