Thank you very much Robman! ... I found the protocol builder and i messed with it. I should have mentioned this, but it never registered as important to me ... i replace the IR receiver on the m$ dongle with one that came with a TV card for a computer i built. I didn't really know that receivers had ...

Ok Robman, I tried to increase the repeat rate ... and the m$ dongle was still picky. sometimes it wouldn't take, and sometime it jumped 2 or 3 block, so i've been messing with the first two bytes that fixed the x3ir, thinking something might make a difference. Well ive also searched through some ...

its the same code the rca 0522. The x3ir only turns the xbox on and off ... the dongle allows remote control operations ... so i'm using the same code to control both ... but tweaking the duty cycle didn't seem to affect the dongle reciever it just seems like it picks and chooses when to accept the ...

Robman, What you recommended worked :) I tried each one and the distance increased significantly each time ... 60% works just great!!! Thank you very much!!! .... I know i said it didn't make a big deal if it could damage the remote, but is this likely to damage the remote?

Oh, and there is another ...

If you are using a protocol upgrade, you can tweek the duty cycle to send a stronger signals, but it will drain the batteries quicker. Now, I'm not expecting you to know how to do that, so if you tell me what code or upgrade you are using to work the X3Ir, I can advise you on what to do next ...

Ok, i used the 6131n to teach a learning remote(not jp1) a signal, and the x3ir picked it up all the way across the room (25ft) ... but the 6131n only works up to a few feet. So i might have 2 just get a different jp1 remote, but i'd like 2 get this one to work if possible. Does anyone know how to ...

OK, x3Ir has codes for signals such as select=FA52D0 up=AA5965 0=CA50F3 play=8A5A57 etc. Now, would changing any of the values affect the frequency but still result in the same RCA code?

It also lets you program it to power on the unit with mod chip enabled and use another button to power it on ...
