Well the resolution for me was to wait for my old 6 foot cable to be mailed baack to me. Once I had that I was able to upload and download to my remote without incident. I don't know what the problem is with the 3 foot cable. I imagine it's probably a bad chip or something. Not much I can do to ...

I am having a similar problem. I have a brand new 3 foot long USB JP1 I ordered from FileBug. My remote is a URC-8090 B01. My 6 foot long USB JP1 is a few months old but always worked fine.
