JP1 Remotes

Just an update - I got a simple JP1 cable and new remote from Robman (thanks !) and it worked first time ! The simple interface also worked with the remote that was originally giving me problems so now I have two :)

No idea what was causing a problem with the Ultra interface but no need to worry ...

Damn - I was afraid of that :/
I use the parallel port for printing so I know that parts working. I guess the remote is to blame...

Yep, I've tried all the different combinations and still haven't seen any difference from the original message which makes me think my interface is the problem.

I know it's possible that the 'Check Interface' option can return a false negative result but it seems a little suspect when there's no ...

Ok, a bit of an update.

I've now tried the same steps on a completely different PC running Windows 2000 and I'm getting the same problem there. It seems to me that the most likely problem now is an error in the cable / interface ?

Is there anything I can do to verify that the cable is working ...

I've just received a new Ultra JP1 cable (from filebug) and am having a problem testing that it can talk to my remote. I've got a 9960 B01 which I know isn't supported by IR yet but as I understand it, I should still be able to download from the remote and check the interface etc.

I'm asking because I'm wondering whether it's worth installing the 6-pin header on my new remote. If there's a likelihood of getting software support in the (near) future, then I'll get started. Otherwise, I guess it goes into a cupboard for a while...

I only spotted this thread after my new 9960 B01 arrived.
Is it still the case that JP1 just flat doesn't work with this version of the remote ?

Is that always going to be the case or is it just a case of waiting for a new software release ?
