I have found an RDF for 10631063 (URC-6820_8820_10820).rdf in RemoteMaster.v2.03build14, but this obviously refers to the 2006 6-device remote ...

That does set my mind at rest. It wasn't wanting to go back to unextended that concerned me, it was hardware lockup.
