Here's a start at explaining how to do this for anyone else interested in this application. I may be back with some more info, if it doesn't start to bore me...

First I thought it would be good to explain more exactly what vectors 0x14C, 0x16D and 0x167 do ...

it works!
I'm happy to report playing my first few rounds of WipeOut HD using a JP1 remote as an IR-to-IR protocol translator. So, proof of concept accomplished.

update
I wanted to update folks on this. So far it looks feasable. I've successfully managed to send a self-clocked sync signal to glasses, and also I've figured out how to check the state of the JP-1 pin 4 normally used for serial Rx and verified to the best of my ability that the software's internal use ...

Well so far I've tried to hack an RDF to get an extra 256 bytes at the beginning of the download by adjusting the base/size and all apparently base-relative addresses (including the checksums), but the data comes back all zeros.

RM Raw Download and other newb questions
I'm wondering if it's possible to get the full contents of flash (including the usually "read only" area) from a JP1.3 S3F8 remote, so I can disassemble it as a learning exercise. The "Raw Download" panel in RM would seem to be the way to do this, but when I click it all I get is "0600:" with no ...

Controlling 3D IR shutter glasses
Some time ago I decided to try out the 3D feature on my TV set. I bought the cheapest "universal" IR shutter glasses I could find and was astounded at the horribly mistuned sync. Apparently 240Hz LCD 3D TVs occupy a no-man's land between the horrors of 120Hz LCD 3D TVs and the nirvana of DLPs ...
