URC-9910

I'd be interested in a new style URC-9910. What price do you have in mind?

I could never fix my 8910 (Bad E2).

It would be cool if the RF signal were a bit stronger. Anyone with any ideas for that?

My Yamaha RX-V363 uses NEC1 Dev 126 (OBC 126=on & 127=off). The Scene selections come up with weird codes - Gap-578-1691-32? Dev 122 Sub 133 OBC 127=Scene 1, 124=2, 121=3 & 118=4. I bought a used 9910 and should soon have it programed for:

Are you sure that you have the EEPROM in the right way round and don't have any shorts between pics 6-8 (it's ok for pins 1-4 to be shorted).

Maybe one of the electronics experts can suggest whether a capacitor could be bad, or something like that.

The new ones are different chip numbers but I ...

Changing out the EEPROM wasn't all that hard with the right tools. Unfortunately, I still have no joy.

When inserting the batteries, I still get MEM FAULT on the display. I tried the OPS RESET & get the BAD E2. The MFR RESET does the same thing. It also gets a BAD E2 when I load a setup from IR. I ...

Perhaps I'm not adequately explaining what I see but I'll take another shot at it. Maybe I can save you the effort of finding & opening an 8910.

I only find three chips. The one up by the Infrared Emitter is probably the processor because it has many more pins than the EEPROM's you sent me.

At the ...

Thank you Robman but my remote doesn't appear to have a E2 PCB spot. Near the IR emitter, there's one black blob and a chip with 14 or 16 legs (obviously not what I'm looking for.)

The only other two chips I find are those I mentioned above. They are near another black blob at the opposite end from ...

OK... Now I'm trying to ID the EEPROM in my URC-8910. Looking at the chips I got in the mail, I see ATMLH704 - 16B 1 - PGH7083A (I found a magnafying glass!)

In the remote, U5 (HT1381 - 152G0241) & U2 (A51So - CH18) are obvious. I would have expected to see some chip with a similar number. Is the ...

URC-8910 Disassembled

Thanks to a little direction posted above, my 8910 is in pieces; but I've got one extra. There's a 1-inch coil that fell out. Phone upgrade receptor perhaps? There is some very thin wire hanging from the coil that probably short-circuited something causing my problem.

On the chance that it was ...

Disassemble URC-8910

I pulled out the two screws in the battery compartment and the remote body resists my attempts to seperate it. I'd bet it's built with 'catches' along the side and the correct squeeze will free it.

Anybody know the right squeeze?

Where can I get the right EEPROM? I'm not afraid to take it apart.

I was planning on adding a pin block to my URC-7800B00, anyway. Ordering one pin block from Digikey didn't seem worth the shipping.:)

Thanks Rob, but I think I was doing it correctly for a 8910. (Hold set until menu displayed, Record key, Select & Select. Still get BAD E2.)

I saw another post (not yours?) suggesting other extreme measures like pulling batteries for a day or touching leads together to drain any caps.

I'm at a ...

Still get Bad E2 after Mfg Reset

If I still get a BAD E2 on a MFR RESET on a URC-8910B02 after removing the batteries, shorting the power leads and loading new batteries, is my memory shot?

Any ideas welcome.
