Is there a reason you want to use the USB-serial adapter if you have access to a serial port that works?
Many new computers don't have a serial port, and I like to plan ahead. A more immediate concern is whether the USB adapter I just purchased is damaged. If I can't figure out why it doesn't work ...

Serial JP1.x/ USB adapter problem
I'm using a diygadget.com JP1.x serial cable & USB adapter, Atlas 1055 (day) remote (label in battery compartment reads: 1055BC2-XXX-0001-0001 C070301), Win XP. Using the USB connection (and Ir.exe) I'm able to download data from my remote, but when uploading I get an "Error writing to remote ...

My Atlas is set to TV code 0250. The code I posted is the ASPECT button on my Panasonic TV remote, as captured by the TIRA Protocol Analyzer program. Further testing shows that the results vary slightly each time (errors in measuring the timing?) so the data is certainly beyond my ability to reverse ...

It's an Atlas 1055 Day. The four digit setup codes do give me most of the functions of my other remotes but there are a few buttons on my television remote (the TV is a Panasonic Plasma TH-37PA20; I've no idea if it's remote has a proper name) that aren't duplicated.

Using IR codes recorded by Girder
Until now I've been using a TIRA infrared receiver and Girder to record and transmit signals. I'd like to upload those recorded codes to my JP1 remote.
Is it possible to translate the data recorded by Girder into the format needed by IR.exe?
