Ah yeah, some of the numbers are back to front too.

Do you have the RDF file - the one linked at https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewt ... &&start=15 brings up "The file you selected does not exist.

I never assigned macros to a device buttons on my former remotes. I did not know that it is possible. Now I tried this on a URC-1280 using RMIR. Good news: In RMIR I can select the device buttons in the “Key Choser” list. Bad news: It does not seem to work! I don't know if this is another error in ...

All the OP wants is for the device mode buttons to run a global macro as well as change device modes.
I think URC is right, here's the OP's original question...

Is it possible nowadays to trigger a macro by device - e.g. if I was on the Blu Ray player and I tapped AV it would set the HDMI Switch ...

Thanks all - Micro USB must have been a misunderstanding then. Looks like the 1280 is the better option all round - 3 for £45 is a pretty good deal (but will need some Dymo labels 8-) )

Cables for URC-1280 / URC-7980

My trusty URC-7556 and URC-7780s from about a decade ago are finally giving up the ghost (combination of unresponsive buttons and missing button text) so I'm looking to replace them

The two remotes which are available at a reasonable price are

URC 1280

URC-7980

Neither are in the Wiki, but ...

The plot thickens - managed to learn all the codes by using http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/generic/RC-5.conf and then learning the buttons - these do correspond with dev 17's Hex codes. Off to the LIRC mailing lists I go (after playing with the frequency and eps flags anyway!).

Playing around ...

RC-5 has a toggle bit and your results indicate that your device requires that it be set correctly, so raw mode won't work.

You need device code 17, which is 0x11 in hex, so try that as a system address in your RC-5 LIRC file.

That's the bit I'm confused about - The file I'm using http://lirc ...

JP1 to WinLIRC

Now that I have finally got all my devices working on my JP1 remote I have decided to finally get my USB IR dongle working too - so far I have managed to get all the devices I care about working in WinLIRC with the Iguana IR transceiver using a combination of RAW and proper codes, apart from one ...

Maybe even try a few EFCs like for the number keys.

D'oh! I'd had a complete brain fart and forgot about the external functions tab - I now have a working Sky layout to my liking - even if it does consist entirely of Key Moves!

However I have since found out that the upgraded software doesn't ...

To correct a typo in an earlier post - there was an n at the end of the protocol name

I think the 7780 uses RC6-M-20n variant:2.

See the following thread https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/ posting.php?mode=quote &p=94590 for the entry required in Protocols.ini to support this.

There was ...

I'll have to take a look at that this weekend when I have a fresh set of batteries! (That reminds me, I need to delete the ITV Digital box from the remote - that died at DSO!)
