I did start playing around with it last night and IR was definitely reading it back from my 9960 as using the Proton protocol.

Thanks for the tip. It's been so long since I've played with my URC9960 that I've totally forgotten how to create keymaps and how to use the progams together. As soon as I create an rmdu for it i'll upload it. At my rate that may be a week or so away - these might be useful to someone now
