Four-in-One Remote Control (15-1904) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 47588 Follow these steps to set up your 4-in-1. 1. Remove the battery compartment cover and install four fresh AAA alkaline batteries (RadioShack Cat. No. 23-555). Observe the polarity (+ and -) marked in the compartment. Note: Do not place objects on top of the remote control after you install the batteries. This can press down keys for an extended period and reduce battery life. 2. Refer to "Manufacturers' Codes", in Faxback Doc. # 47585, and write down the codes for your original remote controls on the provided label that fits on the back of the 4-in-1. For example, a code for an RCA remote control TV is 047. Note: Some remote controls have several possible codes listed. Try each code until you find the correct one. See "If You Have Problems", on Faxback Doc. # 47587. 3. Press the key for the device you want to set up: TV, CABLE, VCR, or AUX. Press A - B - C, and enter the 3-digit code for the device. For example, to set up the 4-in-1 for an RCA TV with a code of 047, press the following keys: TV - A - B - C - 0 - 4 - 7 Note: The red IR indicator at the top of the 4-in-1 flashes each time you press a key. It also, flashes twice when you enter a code that it recognizes. (This does not mean that it is the right code for your device, however.) 4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to setup other devices. Note: When the 4-in 1's range decreases or the 4-in-1 operates erratically, replace the batteries. CAUTION: Be sure to have fresh batteries ready to install before you remove the old batteries. The 4-in-1's memory only lasts about 1 minute without the batteries. If the memory is lost, re-enter the 3-digit codes for your remote control products. USING TWO OR MORE SIMILAR DEVICES Each of the 4-in-1's keys are preset to control particular devices, as shown in the following list. TV Key - TVs Only. CABLE Key - Cable Converters, Satellite Receivers, and Video Accessories. VCR Key - VCRs Video Discs, and Cassette Decks. AUX Key - CD Players, Amplifiers, Tuners, Receivers, Home Automation Products, Miscellaneous Audio Products. Normally, you program each key for one of its listed devices. However, if you have two or more of the same type of device (two TVs, two VCRs, and so on) you can convert any unused device key for another type of device. To do this, press: A - B - C - 9 - 9 - 9 - (unused device key) - (new device key function) For example, the following key strokes convert an unused CABLE key for use as a second VCR key.
