Finding your device code

So now that you know how to use the upgrade box, you want to know how to create a new device code for that component that doesn't have a code, well here's how you do it.

1. Download the programs "ccf2efc" and "IR" from the programs folder at JP1, then download the devices and keymap-master spreadsheets from the spreadsheets folder. (IR is sometimes listed as RemoteBeta)

2. Then see if there's a "ccf" file for your component in the File Section at Remote Central, if there is download it.

3. Run the "ccf2efc" program against the "ccf" file that you downloaded. If the IR protocol is a known one, this program will tell you what it is, it will tell you what the device code is and it will tell you the advanced codes (EFC) for each function.

4. Now open the keymap-master spreadsheet and look at the "Protocols" worksheet, if the protocol you need is listed, you can simply follow the instructions in the readme file to set up a new device code for this device.

5. If the protocol is not listed, then you will have to experiment a little. Download the protocols spreadsheet from JP1 and see if the id for this protocol is listed, if it is you can try manually setting up the keymap-master spreadsheet.

6. Once you are done, you can then simply cut and paste the new code into the upgrade section of the IR.exe program.
