|
|
I have a RCU810. I want to be able to push the VCR(Sony) device button and have it send a signal to switch the input on the receiver(JVC) to VCR. I created a combined device protocol (Sony and JVC) in KM and set the VCR device button to use it. Everything worked fine. When pressed the VCR device button the remote would be in the VCR device mode and send a signal to the receiver to switch to the VCR input. I did this for the DVD device button as well. The problem is that the VCR button doesn't work anymore. It appears that when I created a DVD(Pioneer) combined device protocol the VCR uses it instead of the original VCR combined device protocol. I did notice that in IR under the PROTOCOLS tab, I have 2 protocols with the same name. I'm wondering if the remote is using the last protocol added because it has the same name as the first one created? Is there a way to rename the protocols or perhaps I am doing something wrong? Am I approching this problem wrong? Is there a better solution than the way I am trying to do this? Do I have to use an extender to do this?
Thanks in advance for any help. |

I'm guessing you did the VCR stuff first, and copied the resulting protocol code to IR. Then you went back and did the DVD, and copied that protocol code to IR, replacing the original. If so, you deleted all the VCR settings from the Device Combiner.
Whenever using the Device Combiner protocol, ALL your devices MUST be in one MASTER protocol. Just add the appropriate PID's and Fixed Data to one of those Devie Combiners (in KM) and copy that protocol doe into IR. You can create multiple device upgrades, and then ignore the protocol code, using just the "master" copy. _________________ Mark |

Mark is right, that is the correct way to do it, if you do it this way. However, you might be better off checking out the RCU810 extender as it would let you program macros to the device buttons that would select the correct input on as many devices as you need.
Even without the extender, you could consider putting macros on the shifted device buttons. _________________ Rob
