Possible to run independent RF of multiple RS 15-2117?

Looking at the schematic of the Radio Shack 15-2117, it does not appear to have multiple independent RF channels, without either tuning a variable cap or changing a component.

Has anyone been down this road, and if so, could you supply details if successful?

Thanks,

Ira

It's not possible (or at least, nobody's invented a hack for it).

If you have two 15-2117s set up, each remote will send signals to both RF extenders.

No, I don't recall hearing of anyone doing this.

I really would not suggest that you try this unless you have the proper equipment. The FCC has only allotted a fairly narrow band of frequencies for remote control, and they take a dim view of harmonics interfering with aircraft navigation, public service communications, etc. The receivers are quite wide-band, so you'd have to move the operating frequency quite a bit, and then you'd probably suffer interference from other sources.

I have not looked at the 2117's transmitter circuit, but prior models were L-C tuned. One of these days UEI is going to follow the lead of other RF manufacturers and start using SAW tuning devices, in which case, re-tuning would not be possible.

For what reason would you need to do that?
