JP1 Remotes

I have a very old Vivanco universal remote. I have removed the battery cover and have found a 3 hole connector labelled "J1".

I know its a long shot but does this mean the remote can be programmed in a similar fashion like jp1?

Has anybody heard of j1? Was it a predecessor to jp1?
