Is it OK to use rechargeable NiMH batteries in UEIC remotes? The ones I'm thinking about are those fancy low discharge NiMH batteries.

They say they can be used as a replacement for disposable alkaline.

They are made by many companies like Sanyo (ENELOOP) and MAHA (IMEDION).

I've used them on many JP1 remotes, both AA and AAA batteries, and they work fine.

What kind of NiMH batteries do you use? Regular or those low discharge batteries?

I get my rechargeable batteries from Thomas Distributing. They have both types of NiMH batteries and chargers to charge them.

I've used regular NiMH's in my 8040, 8910 and 8820 with no problems. They're rated at 1.2V as opposed to 1.5 for disposable (zinc/carbon, alkaline etc.) batteries. AFAIK the only "downside" to low-discharge NiMH's is that they are currently slightly lower overall capacity than regular NiMH's but I don't think that the rated voltage is any lower. I must say that the regular NiMH's seem to last a fairly long time in my remotes as is.

What mAh rating are they? AA goes up to 2700 mAh and AAA goes up to 1000 mAh.

I've got a 4 pack of MAHA 2700 mAh AA batteries and they can sit for four weeks and still be fully charged.

Low discharge AA batteries are 2100 mAh (MAHA) and AAA 800mAh (MAHA)

Ultra low discharge batteries are 1.2v just like regular ones.

Do these NiMH batteries interfere with a JP1 remotes download/upload since they are of a lower voltage?

I'm going to be using them in the Atlas remotes that are coming to me.

simple parallel for jp1 remotes might be effected by the rechargeable batteries but for jp1.3 remotes like the atlases it shouldn't make a difference.

I've used a variety including Vapextech, PROFFiTEXX, Tronic Energy, BetterPower etc. All cheap as chips and probably Chinese, possibly from the same factory even. No problems uploading or downloading via JP1 Simple to 8910, 7562 or via JP1.2 to 8820. The PROFiTEXX ones claim to be 1300mAH for AAA and 2800 for AA. Tested after a full charge they read 1.30V. After one month in a box (unused) they read 1.18V average. They do seem to last longer than the others I have.

A lot of things can affect true voltage and even the testmeter etc., of course - it's about 25°C here today and batteries should perform OK as opposed to out in the cold. Mind you, most TV remotes are used indoors at a temperature of 22° or so.

I bought a small batch and then sent in an order for one gross or so AA's to power all the kids' toys. Less waste disposal than normal AA's.

I have XL-Digital 750Mah AAAs in my URC-8910, and it lasts a few months a charge. IME it reads/writes fine with them, on my simple JP1 cable.
