1. Device: LGDVT418
2. Type of device: DVD player + Receiver combo
3. Year: 2005 (?)
4. JP1/UEI Remote model: URC-8910
5. Do you have a JP1 cable? No
6. Still have original remote? No
7. Checked the file section? Yes
8. Checked Pronto file section (at R/C)? Yes
9. Partially working setup code? No, but see below
10. Learning remote question? n/a

I am a newbie trying to get by without a JP1 cable using IR.EXE and the WAV upgradable functionality of my 8910 remote. I have been searching for codes for an LG combo DVD player/ Receiver. One For All support had not heard of this model and none of the codes in the remote work AT ALL for either DVD or RECeiver device types. It's using all my learning buttons currently to get by (and the fact that I can't Vol lock a learned button is proving to be a pain).

In my search I came across this thread:

There someone with the same LG device as me says he found working codes, but they are for the Kameleon remote. I was wondering if it would be possible for someone with a Kameleon 9960 remote with DVD code 1906 and RECeiver code 1293 to upload and convert them to a WAV file compatible with my URC-8910 remote?

Thanks for the assistance and all the hard work you all put into this site!

Someone with a Kameleon remote couldn't easily extract the codes out of the Kameleon just using the setup codes. The codes are in ROM and IR can only read/write to the EEPROM or Flash RAM part of a chip. They'd have to sit there and learn them from their Kameleon to another remote, decode them in IR etc. If someone has already done this then they have probably (hopefully) uploaded their uprgade to the File Section.

Why don't you try yourself using RM and IR? Take the upgrade that was built for the Kameleon, load it into RemoteMaster, change the remote to a URC8910, change the key layout. Create an empty IR file for the 8910, import the upgrade that you have created in RM and then use IR's IR to WAV export feature to create your WAV file.

If you can't find the original upgrade then there is a spreadsheet (in the File Section) called "Devices" that lists setup codes. It will at least give you the protocol and Device Number etc. but you'll then need to do a bit of trial-and-error with the button codes. E.g it states that DVD1906 is NECx1, Dev44, Subdev44, as is REC1293.

Wouldn't it be easier just to get a cable? That way you can create macros and do all sort of nice things with your remote and also backup a good configuration in case anything goes wrong.
