upgrade and mapping issues with urc 10820

Hi Folks,

I used to have a URC 8811 with the old JP1 interface working fine. I have 3 upgrades to devices.

I recently bought the URC 10820 with the JP1 1.x serial cable and am communicating with the remote without issue.

The problem is that after I cut and paste the new code from RM to add a device for the 10820 rdf to create my new .ir file and upload...the buttons are not mapped properly and are doing weird stuff (i.e. down volume is mute, menu is shut off...etc)

I've seen a few postings on similar issues but all the proposed solutions aren't helping.

My .ir is in the diagnosis area at http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... le_id=5419

It is quite frustrating since the same upgrades and .ir files worked for my URC8811...of course the only difference is that I chose a different remote in RM and a different .rdf in IR to reflect my new URC 10820 remote.

Any ideas?

Please provide links to the device upgrade files (KM or RM).

here is the upgrade that is having the most mapping problems:

mathboy, when you say mapping issues, are you talking about the functions being scrambled? If so take a look on the general tab in IR to see if you have the keyboard setting set to "Standard" or "Alternate". The JP1.2 remotes will scramble your functions if this is not set to "Standard". They degree of scramble depends on the 4 digit device code that you designed. I believe the latest and greatest RDF has this setting defined.

I checked and the official RDF's do not have this setting.

this line needs to be in your [Settings] section of your RDF to keep the keys from scrambling.

KeyMap=$01F.5.1.0.0 (Standard;Alternate)

This is an issue if you started out with a new file, instead of working from a download. When you do a file new, its set to Alternate.

vicky, the second to the last digit should be 0. I've fixed it in your post. This will make the Standard the default when you use File Remote->New.

Brilliant. You guys nailed it...works like a champ. Is this generally known with this and other rdfs or did misread something?

Binky reported it here a few months ago. There have been a number of discussions on that since then. There was a glitch with getting the RDF's updated and this patch got lost. This scrambling effects most of the JP1.2 remotes. The URC-6820, 8820, 10820 and the Atlas 5 Day Jp1.2 remote, but not the Comcast 1067a JP1.2 remote. I do believe it effects the Atlas JP1.3 remotes as well but don't quote me on that, as I'm focusing on JP1.2.
