I tried The Sony DAVS500 Home Theater System (using the device combiner) I got a message indicating a couple of the protocols were invalid when I switched to the correct remote. I tried the upgrade anyway, but the power key and number functions didn't do anything.

The main thing I need is power, both toggle and/or discrete.
The other thing I need is the ability to switch direct to
the different inputs, like DVD, Tuner FM, Tuner AM, XM, SAT/CABLE, TV, DMPORT1, DMPORT2 and AUDIO. The odd thing is those functions are not available on the original remote, but I have a harmony remote that will do this.

Hi Dmoos,

What harmony remote do you have that gives discrete inputs for the hdx500. I have a harmony 880 and while there are separate input keys for the various inputs, only the InputTV and InputDVD works for me. Everything else does nothing, so I'm stuck having to roll through the inputs (using function key) which sucks for macros. Thanks.
