JP1 Remotes

I'm just starting to use RM. I've been reluctant to use it, because I'm so familiar with KM. I'm very impressed. Its a nice piece of work.


When I have trouble switching from one remote to another, I realize that indicates a problem with an RDF name. After all I caused this to happen to several users. But now that I'm going to have to use RM for the 1067's I need the answers to a few questions.

1)Is it only having part of the name outside parenthesis () or is that something to do with those mysterious underscores that appear in file names too? Any other little things I should check for when this stuff comes up in the middle of the night? I seem to be able to scroll up and hit the offensive RDF, but trying to find it without the signature is tough.

2)Is there a way to make the RDF and Image paths stick? It never can find where I put them.

The only part that should be outside the () is the signature and the .rdf. Everything inside is used by RM to select which remote and matching image to use when you select the remote.

The name of the file is something like 6_80_2x2 (URC-881x_801x_601x x2 2k).RFD where the 6_80_2x2 is the signature, the URC- is the remote type, the 881x, is the first model, the 801x is the second model etc. The - separates the high level name from the model and the _ separates the models

If you look inside the rdf you will see a matching line like this ImageMap=URC-8811.map,URC-8011.map,URC-6011.map that is the same sequence as the names within the () in the file name.

Erase the RemoteMaster.properties file and it should prompt you for the locations the next time you restart. If you want to change it then edit the file and you will see entries like mine.

IRPath=C\:\\JP1
RDFPath=C\:\\JP1\\rdf
UpgradePath=C\:\\JP1\\RM Upgrades

You can change them to your path. The double slashes are important.
