hello there,
After finally getting my cable to work fine with my urc-7555 remote i decided to purchase a better, more modern remote and have a play.
I made sure the new remote was also JP1.2 so it would work with my exsisting cable.
I chose a URC-7781 (as far as i can see it should be the same as urc7780 apart from the colour) So i tried the rdf file for a 7780 but this refused to work. Next i tried editing the .map and .rdf files in notepad then renaming the two together with the .jpg file with appropriate names. This still didn't work. upon trying IR.exe popped up a dialogue box saying "address voilation at 004B9364 in module ir.exe Read of address 01103AB4".
I'm stuck. Is there a rdf file for the URC7781 anywhere? I have looked here and in yahoo groups to no avail.
Cheers again
URC-7781 (Black URC-7780 ?) RDF file anyone?

First things first.
What is the signature of your remote? (Download FROM the remote into IR and even if there is no rdf, on the Raw Data tab, the remote's signature will be displayed.) If the signature matches one already in the rdf folder, then that rdf should work, but MAY require some tweaks - sometimes slightly different remotes share a common signature - but it may be a completely different signature.
(Just take a look at the Atlas family of URC 1054, 1055 and 1056 remotes to see this concept gone wild!)
Save that IR file and upload it to the diagnosis area. Then provide a link to that file in this thread and someone will take a look.

Well, the signature is 11311131, for which there is no cirrent rdf, so you'll have to wait for one of the experts make you one.
One thing you will have to do, however, is manually create a bunch of macros, trying to ultimately use every button in the remote at least once, and keeping very good records as to which buttons you are programming with precisely what.
Then THAT downloaded IR file (along with your detailed notes) can be used by the rdf writer to determine the various button codes required in the rdf.
