OneForAll urc 8810 menu buttons

Post by OneForAllURC8810 »

The menu buttons to change selections while watching a DVD do not work.
I cannot move left or right to choose between play movie, scene selection., special features etc. Instead those buttons, while the movie is playing act as ffwd rew buttons.
I cannot get help from the company as the email to them was rejected.
I searched and searched for urc8810 on this website and found nothing in this topic area, hence the post.

All the other buttons work ok for the DVD

Its as if their Device Group is not working and I have tried to reset it to factory settings to no avail.

The DVD is a Zenith DVC2200 using 0591.

thanks,
I edited the above post

May I add that these left right menu buttons should also move me thru the TV's menu choices, or the VCR's choices, but they do not work there either.
It is only with the DVD that I am in trouble, because the tv can still move thru the menu with the volume and channel buttons

I found a similar model of Zenith DVD player, so it may work with your model. Try using the advanced codes below to remap some of the keys that are not working. For example to redefine the left arrow key do the following:

1. Press and release DVD device key (or whatever device mode you have your DVD player set to).
2. Press and hold SET until the remote blinks twice.
3. Type 994
4. Press and release SET
5. Type 233
6. Press and release LEFT ARROW key
The remote should blink twice. Now test the left arrow key. If it works, repeat the steps 2-6 for each functions you want to add, add use the codes below for the function in step 5, and press the key you want to assign that function to in step 6. Some of the functions might not be applicable to your model since this is for a different model, and some of them you do not have to program if they are already programmed correctly.

down arrow = 037

Here's the reply I wrote to you when you asked this question on remotecentral.com:

The easiest thing to do would be to learn the left and right arrows from your original DVD player remote onto your 8810. The best thing to do would be to use keymoves. Try EFC 105 for left and 040 for right.
