Hi everyone,

Yesterday night (3.30 AM Smile i finally got my Dreambox V3 remote to control (most of) my devices. It took me quite some time but with all the good info i found on all the sites written by so many people i finally worked it out.

I am now trying to complete my most important macro. This Macro is to turn all my devices on and set them to the correct channels and inputs.

I use IR and RemoteMaster (both latest versions) to create keymaps and IR for the Macros. I programmed my DB V3 remote to also use the 4th button (Shift+Dream) to control my Receiver. However, when creating macro`s i just can`t find the way to select this 4th device in the macro. When i first add a "Shift" and after that a "Dream" followed by the rest of the keys nothing happens. Only the 3 standard keys are available to select (Dream, TV, AUX). There are a lot of "Shift+XXXX" keys available but not "Shift+Dream" which i need.

Are there people here that also have this problem and if so how did you solve this. I have searched a lot already but couldn`t tackle this one.

Thanks in advance for looking into my problem.

What you describe does not match what I see in IR. You can assign keymoves and macros to the "shift-DREAM" button, and you can USE the "shift-DREAM" button IN macros, so I don't understand your problem.

Please describe more clearly (specifically) what you're trying (and unable) to do. It's probably more helpful if you upload your guilty IR file to the diagnosis area and post a link to it, as well. A file to look at is usually worth several thousand words.

Edit: AHHHH... I see. The Dreambox remote has a series of distinct shift-XXXX buttons. But you can access the shift-Dream in the dialogue box for creating macros. Just look at the bottom of that box. Highlight DREAM, and click "Add Shift" instead of simply "Add"

Thanks for the quick reply.

In your edited part it says mostly the function that i needed. I have tested it but it doesn`t work. I created a simple macro to turn on the AMP (that is on the 4th button, Shift+Dream). What i did was:

1. Create/Add a new Macro linked to Shift+1
2. Highlighted Dream in IR and added it with the "Add Shift" button.
3. Added "Power" with the normal "Add" button
4. Upload everything to the remote.

The strange thing is is that my Dreambox (not the AMP) itself is turning on with that macro. But when i press Shift + Dream + Power manually, the AMP turns on as it should, but with the macro it won`t.

The link to the complete IR file is: http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=5289

Here is the summary of the IR file:

The problem is because you called a macro from another macro, and this does not work. You should repeate your SHIFT-DREAM into the body of your Shift-1 macro

Hmm, that`s indeed a very good point. Somewhere in the back of my head i should have known that but as a beginner with JP1 i got i little lost in thi sbig forest. I will look into the macro this weekend to see if i can solve it.

Don`t know if i should start a new thread for this but perhaps you guys know this. Is there an Extender for the Dreambox type remotes. I have looked in the file sections but it seems all the extenders are for remotes like the One For All models. I searched for this several times but couldnt find the right answer (or i used the wrong search terms).

Thanks for clearing the macro thing out.

I've got the same problem and i'm a real rookie Embarassed . Unluckily neither this

helped me.

I also wanted to press one button on my urc-39930rj0-04 so that all devices turn the power on. Doing this manualy works fine. So when I press dream and afterwards power, tv and afterwards power and shift-tv and afterwards power each device is running.

Because i didn't manage to program the macro, i tried to isolate the problem before caring about the "macro in macro" problem. I found out that even this simple macro doesnt work (macro #2).

After pushing the buttons shift+1(simultanously) the remote doesnt work for about 10 secs, but nothing happens. If i'm pressing first shift than 1 the remote doesnt work anymore and i have to remove the batteries.

PLEASE HELP, I was so proud building a working interface!

PS: Sorry for my bad english! Scool is too long over!

To use a shifted numeric button (0-9) in a non-extended remote you have to press shift twice followed by the button. For example: <shift>-<shift>-<1>. A single press of <shift> tells the remote you're trying to send a direct-entry EFC for the selected setup code which is why it appears to lock-up (it should timeout after a few seconds).

Thanks Mark for your quick reply. I tried as you wrote, but nothing happened. The remote was also dead. After 10 minutes i took out the batteries.

Because i thought the problem could be the shift thing, i tried this macro, without shift. Same problem, remote "hangs up" --> batteries out.

the interessting thing is, that the first macro works perfectly.

Does the normal TV device work? You have TV/0680 assigned to the TV device but I can't see where TV/0680 is built-in to the Dreambox (according to the Devices.xls spreadsheet it doesn't exist in ANY remote) and there is no upgrade listed for TV/0680. That could be why the remote is locking up.

That's odd... Confused

What happens if you create the macro on a non-numeric button?

TV/0650 + DevCodeOffset 30 = TV/0680

There is built-in "pause protocol" in dreambox remote.
After every keystroke in macro (except last) remote expects duration of the pause.
Since this is not supported by IR you must enter pause as keystroke.
Shortest pause is 01 and it is also the button code of SHIFT button.
So your PowerAll macro should look like this in IR:

Shift-1 DREAM;SHIFT;POWER;SHIFT;TV;SHIFT;POWER;SHIFT;AUX;SHIFT;POWER

Thanx for your help!

@damir: fantastic, that works(simple macro for testing purposes: shift-1 dream;shift;power). Also works with shift-1 dream;shift;power;shift;tv;shift;power to turn the tv and the box off. two more troubles:

1. to turn on the tv i have to push the button for about 4 sec (not for turning it off). can i tell ir to do that?
2. shift-aux;shift;power doesnt work. I think i've got the same problem as g64 at the beginning of the post, but i think i'm stupid to find out what that means:

You can use Device Combiner with Duration Control.

Quote:

2. shift-aux;shift;power doesnt work.

shift-aux is wrong
SHIFT before AUX is pause between previous command (POWER) and AUX, it is not shifted AUX.

Shift-1 DREAM;SHIFT;POWER;SHIFT;TV;SHIFT;POWER;SHIFT;AUX;SHIFT;POWER
