Signature does not match in IR

I bought a parallel JP1 cable to work with my OFA 8810. I don't think IR is recognizing what remote it is. After Download from Remote, nothing shows up in General tab. Raw data does get filled up and it shows signature 6_806_80.

When I try to upload to remote (right after download), it warns signature does not match.

Is this normal?

Did you set the rdf path, in IR, to where your rdf's are?

Best,
jeff

Yes, even tried moving them to same directory as ir

What version if IR? Have you tried the lastest version 7.08 and the latest rdf distribution?

You should save the .ir file you got from downloading from the remote and upload it to our diagnosis area, so an expert can look at it and see if there is something strange in the eeprom contents causing the problem.

After that, you may need to do a factory reset on the remote, which would destroy any learned signals, keymoves, macros, upgrades, etc. that were already in the remote. But if any of those are important to you, we should be able to get them back from that saved .ir file.

6_806_80 is the correct signature, so it still sounds more likely that IR.exe isn't finding the rdf files, than that the problem is in the remote's eeprom contents. But it shouldn't hurt to start investigating the other possibility.

Not to belabor this point, but just to be sure,

(1) Go to your RDF directory (whatever you have called it) and check to see that you have the rdf whose name is:
6_806_80 (URC-881x_801x_601x).rdf
is listed there;
(2) Then open IR.exe, and go to "File>Set Directory>RDF path..." and ensure that you have selected this same directory.

#1, Did that, it's there.
#2, Yes did that too.

I am using latest RDF and IR 708.

If I do not set RDF path, it complains No definition file found, check RDF path, etc. Another note, I have 2 8810 and both do the same thing.l

The raw data file I uploaded is

That .ir file opens OK in IR.exe for me.

I don't have any decent guess what might be wrong with your IR.exe and/or RDF files.

Meanwhile, the learned signals for Stop, Exit and Fwd are pretty bad. I expect once you figure out your other problem, you will want to make or find a device upgrade for that DVD. It would be difficult, if even possible, to figure out the OBC numbers for those three bad learns. It would be better to relearn those three signals. Of course, you won't see useful results from that until you fix whatever your RDF problem turns out to be.

I was able to open the ir file in 7.08 also. This has got to be an RDF problem.

Do me a favor and in Explorer at the full drive level do a search for the following and let us know what it finds in what folders.

*URC-881*.rdf

Also, double check in IR that File > Set Directory > RDF Path is pointing to the right RDF folder and that in fact it shows some of the RDF's in the right of the window. Then page down in that window and see if the RDF's starting with 6_806_80 are there. Should be 2 I think plus the extenders above them.

There are issues with IR running from network drives as well as if you have a shortcut that has a "default" directory that isn't there (I found this when running IR from a flash drive and it got a different letter on different machines)

Do this:

1: make sure that you're not on a network attached drive or a removeable drive

2: make sure that any shortcut that you are using is pointing its "working directory" (or whatever windows calls that) to some place that really exists.

Folks, I feel like an idiot, but maybe someone will have the same problem and maybe they won't have to embarrass themselves.

I was picking the RDF directory and clicking OK, but I was just highlighting it with one click instead of two. Once I double clicked the directory, I saw all the RDF files to the right. It's working as it is supposed to.

Re the DVD, all that get's trashed anyway, I am playing DVDs now using MythTV.

Anyway, thanks everyone for your responses, sorry for the bother.

No need to be embarrassed. Just glad it is working for you and we don't have any software problems.
