I use the shifted device buttons for my start up macros. These macros power on all the necessary devices and select the right inputs on the stereo and TV for the device in question. Shift / POWER turns everything off.
I figure that I need to use the start up macros alot less often than I need the device buttons, which is why they got the shifted mode. _________________ Rob

I use the 2116 extender and the Long Key Press special protocol on the device key. A normal press puts you in that device mode, a long press selects the correct inputs.
Then my instructions consist of, 'Press the device to control it, if you ever can't see or hear what you want, just press that button and hold it until you can.' That passes my wife test!
