JP1 Remotes

I tried the extender. Like it a lot, but I am not able to get VPT or TPT right. When I use a macro like C_DVD;T_DVD;V_AUD;P_DVD;O_DVD, I expect the volume buttons of my receiver to work when I am in the DVD remote mode.
Unfortunately it doesn't. I must be doing something wrong and it's probably something simple, but I don't see it.

Well looking at your file I notice 2 things that immediately seem off to me.

1) There is no initial setting for most of the sets. In the other settings on the general tab set the T V P and O devices to what you want them to initially start out at.

2) Your Macros for the device keys are still mostly default. You dvd key does set the V to Aud and that should work but it's not really the best way to do it. If you leave the V set out entirely for DVD it will leave the volume to what ever the last device is so it's usually best to just have the device macros set what you need to be switched to that device and just leave everything where it is. If you want normal VPT behavior you can just leave the V off of all the device macros except AUD and it should always be on V_aud.

I'm not clear about "VPT Status" in this extender; under General Tab, Other Settings, try setting VPT status to "On", initial V device to AUD, TV or whatever you commonly use and seeing if your macros re-assign V correctly. I think it's quite sensible to assign V commands to each button macro and find that VPT globally "on" or "off" confuses me somewhat.

You are right. I simplified my original file (some of the initial settings are therefor not activated) just to demonstrate that the VTP was not working and that it was not due to over complicating things.
My ultimate goal is to have the choice to have the original settings (short press) and a VTP (long press)
So I can't use the VPT set on one device in the other settings as long as I can't override this by a V_ command when I wish too.
I tried this and it doesn't work either.

You've discovered a bug in the rdf.
The V_ and P_ keys are in the wrong order. I'll fix it when I'm sober.

The keys are supposed to be C_, T_, V_, P_ and O_

Instead I typed them in C_, T_, P_, V_ and O_ order.

You can fix this in your RDF or you can wait until I fix it tomorrow.

I uploaded the corrected RDF this morning.

When you replace the RDF examine your macros since the P_ buttons will now be V_ buttons and visa versa.

Thanks Vicky. That fixed it. I had chanced the RDF file myself before and downloaded it to the remote. It didn't work. So I waited until you fixed the RDF yourself. The problem was not my faulty chancing of the RDF but the fact that I hadn't checked the swapping of the V- and P_. Now it works as I had intended it.

I'm glad I remembered to mention that P_ V_ thing.
