JP1 Remotes

I have created an upgrade for the KLH R7000 receiver and uploaded two versions to the yahoo file storage area. One version has the buttons mapped to the 8810 remote based on the information in the tuner/1428 upgrade codes faxed to me from UEL. The second version has the buttons mapped in a more logical manner. Enjoy...

If both have all the functions on the function's sheet how they are actually mapped isn't really germaine. Anyone who uses either file should check out and modify the mapping as they see fit anyway. "Logical manner" is highly subjective and the next guy that sees either file may consider both illogical. I'd delete the one with the ueic map scheme. Again, as long as both have all the functions and their commands on functions, two files with just the button assignments shuffled is really a waste of file space.

Besides, we already know ueic does a horrid job of button assignments. It wouldn't be a bad idea to forward the protocol, device, subdevice, and functions/efc list to Rob and he can post it (tuner_1428)

OK, the UEL version is deleted. When UEIC emails me the EFC list, I'll pass it on along with the protocol and device.

I notice that the Satellite input key is not mapped. Any guidance on doing that?

I didn't map it because I don't use that input, but you could use KM to assign that function to a button.

I don't know how I got that mixed up, but I was talking about the 'source' key'.

Anyway, I figured I would be able to map it via KM. Is there a tuturial available for KM?

Hmm, my R7000 remote doesn't have a 'source' key.

Anyway, I learned how to use KM from the "JP1 For Beginners" file in the help section of the yahoo group.

I apologize.

I have an issue with my satellite remote and an issue with my receiver remote. I seem to be having a hard time keeping the two apart in my mind.

The problem was with the 'sat' key on the KLH remote. I will attempt to 'learn' it, and then find the EFC via IR, and then assign it via KM.

Does that sound like the right path to take?

Almost. I have already learned all the buttons from the KLH remote. These buttons and the corresponding EFCs are listed on the 'Functions' tab in KM. You can assign the functions to any button you wish on the 'Buttons' tab.

FYI: I went into the spreadsheet and assigned the 'SAT' key to the number 7 key and all is well. Thanks for your help.
