How exactly do you use the custom function name function?

You can enter custom names using...

Options>Function Names>Edit Custom Names...

But if...

Options>Function Names>Custom

... is checked, creating new RM files just populates the function list with the default functions.

Is this a bug?

Yes, it is a bug. Expect a fix in v1.83

Thanks!

Also, is there any way to improve the file dialog boxes? When I use the "Look In" dropdown box, the only item I see is "Desktop".

Upgrade to Java 6.

I'm running 6.3, but I'm still not getting a full "Look In" menu. Is this a limitation in JAVA?

Are you by any chance using the Windows "native" version of RM? The bundled JRE that is provided with that is at Java version 5.

What's displayed in Help -> About? Note that there is a right-click menu in the text box, making it easy to copy-n-paste that information.

Yes. I used the version contained in the self-installer.

The version you installed can only use the Java runtime it came bundled with. If the better file dialog on Java 6 is important to you, un-install the version you have, and install the multi-platform version from the .zip file.

I can't exit RM after making any changes or importing settings. I have to kill the process with Task Manager. I can exit if I start the program and then try to exit. But if I do anything, I can no longer exit.

And when I save the settings, I can not load them. I can open a txt file, and then save it to a RMDU file. But I cannot load the file. I select it and then the program just does nothing.

I updated to the latest JRE version, rebooted, still the same.

By txt file, do you mean KM file which you're editing and trying to save as rmdu?
In the RM directory will be rmaster.err file. It opens with Notepad. Use find for words such as "exception" and / or "error".
Greg may need to see the error file, so upload it to Diagnosis.
What was running in Task Manager? javaw.exe?

When I edited an upgrade file, at the end was a line with "DeviceUpgrade.hasChanged()". Actually two lines.

Also, please post a link to the KM .txt file you loaded and then saved as a .rmdu file.
