One thing I've learned here is always go for the latest and greatest. Everytime I've ever had a problem with IR or KM, its always been fixed in the newest release before I've ever discovered the problem.

hi fellows...
After trying and trying different ways to work out my problem, I don't have any response...
At the moment , I tod was my Windows XP or vista problem, I decide to format my PC in a new fresh Windows XP
The problem was after installing several different versions IR.Exe and linking the RDF file on the same directory where the IR is, I don't get and result.
When I hit (Download from my remote) i get fallowing error.
NO RESPONSE FROM INTERFACE.MAKE SURE THAT THE INTERFACES CONNECTED TO PC,AND THAT YOU'VE SPECIFIED CORRECT PORT.
When I HIT OK button on same windows box , I see on my remote the red light linking few times.more, BUT with no reading response , I fallow all step I did before and won't work..
Few weeks ago I did same think , and after updating around 100 remotes for some reason my Hard rive crash on that PC. is where all this problem Start after Installing a new fresh Windosws XP but before everything was OK.
Now ho can help me on this issue..
thanks.
nOTE: YES i DID add the eproom and the 6pins , I did before this process and like I say, was working properly..

Hi Spider,
Laptops are notorious for having "funny" parallel ports.
1st make sure port is setup in bios correctly, many times XP sets up LPT3 by default. Also try all the different modes available.
2nd and possibly more important, if you made your own cable did you make sure to short [ground] ALL pins 18-25. If you're like me you couldn't see a reason why but just do it anyway. Yours is not to reason why...

I am using IR.exe on my laptop, and it won't work my remote unless I remove one of the batteries and flip it around. Even then, it takes 2 or 3 times to get it to work.
If you don't want the hassles, you need to not use the simple interface, you need to use the advanced interface, or the USB interface...

I installed a parallel port in my new computer, and IR didn't work at first. After some puzzling, it was because the PCI card is using a non-standard address (CCC8). Once I told IR the proper address, it worked fine.
In IR, just go to Interface/Parallel, and type in the address in 'Other' if it's not one of the standard ones.
To find the address:
Hit WindowsKey-Break, then go to Device Manager.
Open up the Ports (COM & LPT) tree
Right-click your parallel port and go to Properties.
Go to the resources tab.
The address you enter is the first one listed.
