|
|
I have been monitoring THIS AUCTION for a supply of Twenty Atlas 5-device PVR-DVR remotes. 20 Atlas remotes, whose form factor seems to be popular, for a total of $75 shipped seems like a pretty good deal.
After inquiring of the seller, 15 of the 20 remotes are the URC-1054 (JP1, SA_7SA_7, 1K EEPROM) types and 5 URC-1055 (Unknown mix of JP 1.2 (10251025) and JP 1.3 (3 different rdf sigs identified to date)
If there is interest in somebody getting a stash of these and:
(1) adding 2K EEPROMs to the 1054's and making them available on this site, and/or
(2) having a few JP 1.2/1.3 models to play with - hopefully in developing an extender (not knowing the exact mix of these makes this a bit of a crapshoot),
this auction might be worth a look.
If there is interest in somebody doing one or several of those things, I might be inclined to buy the lot and will be happy to send a batch off to somebody for mods/testing in return for a smaller set of modified ones/or to see an extender developed. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

I recently picked up what should be a 1055 for about 8 bucks shipped otherwise I'd be interested in one of the jp1.2/1.3 remotes if someone bought this lot and tried to resell them.
It does look like a fairly interesting layout and the jp1.x remotes should have a fair bit of available memory to work with. Unfortunately working on an extender or upgrading them to 2k eeproms is a bit outside of my skill level =)
If someone can get it for 75$ shipped I'm pretty sure that they would sell off well at 5$+ shipping per remote. |

I'd be willing to buy the Jp1.2 remotes.
I really like the layout. The key spacing is nice. I normally am a fan of the little remotes like the URC6011, the old 6131, and the old Cinema 7.
The keys are really spaced. The number keys are farther apart than those on the 8811. There are a lot of special keys grouped together near the top. I'd recommend one.
I've got some JP1.3's that I'm willing to part with. |

Rob
I've been thinking of taking the JP1.3 plunge to build an extender, this is probably as good a remote as any. If you win these and there is a 1.3 version.
Is there a way to make a JP1.3 cable work with a USB-only computer? Has anyone made this work on a Mac running parallels desktop?

Sure, plug it into a USB-to-serial adapter. I bought 5 of these thinking people would want them and never sold a one. _________________ Rob

I've tried my JP1.x cable using USB to serial adapter and it works fine. I only have older Macs with G4 so I haven't tried Parallel, but the adapter worked fine through VirtualPC. |

Well, Rob,
I notice that you're the high bidder, so I hope nobody from this forum tries to snipe you, since we all benefit from your efforts.
If you get them and upgrade a few EEPROMs on the JP1 version, I'd like to get on a waiting list for 4 of them.
As I've said, I like the form factor, but really need an extender, as well, (can't live without ToadTog and LKP these days - we've been spoiled) and there is none for the more "robust" (memory-wise) JP 1.2/1.3 variants.
As for the JP 1.3's hopefully you can get them in the hands of folks who can develop extenders. (I personally have a 30003000) _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

Capn, I've been working on a Atlas JP1.2 gen 1 extender with LKP and ToadTog is in the pre-beta phase right now. That one will give you 2K of keymove space after the curtesy macros are loaded. Upgrade space after all the special protocols are loaded is still more than 600 bytes. |

Of course upgrade space is no longer an issue with IR allowing overflow into other regions.
Unfortunately, I have the JP1.3 (30003000) version, so I will be unable to benefit from your efforts (unless I get a few JP1.2 Atlases from that lot if they're there and Rob re-sells them) _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

The jp1 version sounds interesting. I could use a loaner to try the 2K extender. _________________ Liz

Well, Rob just won the lot, so he has 15 of the JP1 versions to destroy/modify with 2K EEPROMs. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first
